I was idly browsing the internet late one night when I came across Missouri Gubernatorial Candidate Eric Greitens. He's an author and former Navy SEAL, but what was most interesting to me was that several years ago he registered the domain name EricGreitensForPresident.com. Before he's even run for anything. Dude's got ambition. It inspired the below question:

Which lower-level politicians/people have, at some point, expressed national or higher-level ambitions?

I remember once reading the Wikipedia article of my city's mayor, and it mentioned her potentially running for president. Unfortunately, it appears to have been changed since then.

Dang! I understand why you can't tell me her name, but it still sucks. Was it ironic, or serious?

I'm fairly sure it was serious, though a lot of her article at the time was very biased.
