Nah, I don't think so...if he were seriously challenged, it would have to be by Raymond Sanchez in the primaries or U.S. Senator Pete Domenci in the general.  Representatives Steve Pearce and Heather Wilson are good candidates also, but it's likely they will try to challenge Senator Jeff Bingaman (D) in 2006.

I voted "no" but I have been out of New Mexico for almost 5 years now. WMS should have the real scoop on this topic.

Maybe. Wink

King is probably correct - there don't seem to be any serious stirrings in the NM Reps. Then again, the NM Reps spend half their time fighting with each other. Roll Eyes

Sanchez, if he runs for something else, isn't going to run against a Dem incumbent. Domenici is staying where he is as long as his health holds up. Pearce and Wilson (and Udall, for that matter) are all waiting to see if either Senate seat ever opens up (last open seat, 1982!) but I don't think they'll risk losing their House seats unless it's open or unless Bingaman looks vulnerable. Both parties have done bang-up jobs in managing to pick crappy candidates in races in recent years... Tongue (John Sanchez?! Art Trujillo?! Aaaaaaigh!)

So I'm sure Richardson will win again and he'll see if he can create any more patronage government positions for his campaign donors like he did after his first victory. Roll Eyes

His campaign was always the same, same billboard rentals, same campaign signs, same results in the end....

And he always ends up with a cushy patronage job at the Public Regulation Commission after he loses...
