Looking at the map this has to be the case. He improved on his 2008 numbers in Scranton, Staten Island, parts of Philly, Providence and smaller towns like Manville, NJ seem to back this up as well. The improvement cant be attributed to minority turnout in these very white areas.

Staten Island isn't really that filled with white working-class voters.

Not just the Northeast. He improved in river cities in northern Kentucky too (such as Bellevue, Dayton, and Ludlow).
