My guess;

2004 Democratic Candidates:
Al Gore, Former Vice President
John Kerry, Massachusetts Senator
Dick Gephardt, House Democratic Leader
John Edwards, North Carolina Senator
Wesley Clark, Retired General

Iowa Caucus:
Gore 44%
Gephardt 30%
Kerry 20%
Clark 3%

NH Primary:
Gore 34%
Kerry 30%
Gephardt 20%
Clark 12%

SC Primary:
Gore 40%
Clark 30%
Kerry 15%
Gephardt 8%

Nomination:
Gore 52%
Gephardt 30%
Kerry 12%
Clark 4%

General Election:
George W. Bush / Dick Cheney (R) 51% 274 electoral votes
Al Gore / Howard Dean (D) 48% 263 electoral votes

*Basically, the map is the 2004 map except Gore would have won Iowa & New Mexico as he did in 2000

I think gore would've lost worse than Kerry.  Many people forget Gore went off the deep end in 04 - calling Bush a war criminal etc can energize the base but in a GE...  I think Bush could've broken 350 EVs (remember a 2% swing from Kerry to Bush in 04 would've made it a landslide)

You might be right. But, I doubt Gore would have said those things if he wanted to run again in 2004.

He might've.  I honestly think he'd just go on the attack - it would likely be his last chance so he might want to solidify the base around him and thus win the primaries with enough momentum to go into the GE swinging
