Maybe he's thinking that if he threatens to run, it might draw Harkin into retirement, as he'd likely have to campaign just a little bit. I don't see King running unless it is an open seat.

King is a nutjob. Harkin doesn't have much to fear (or most likely any replacement) unless Latham runs.

I don't know why he'd want to get away from his leader of the crazies in the congress role, but go right ahead. I would love to lose Steve King, but as long as he takes Trent Franks, and Michelle Bachmann with him (Gohmert is too funny to take out of the House).

Harkin has had competitive challenges from congressmen in most of his races. 2008 was the exception. King would be easy to roll over.

Latham would be even better if there weren't a risk he would win.

You're joking, right? Having King as his opponent will probably mean that Harkin has his easiest campaign ever.

Great; if King couldn't even pull off a double-digit win in his district this year, he has no chance against Harkin statewide. I'll be glad to see Steve King the xenophobe leave office.

Great News! Now let's have Michelle Bachmann run against Franken!

King getting the Republican Senate nomination in Iowa, Bachmann in Minnesota, Joe Miller in Alaska and Virginia Foxx in North Carolina would be perfect.

While we are speaking of nutcases to replace liberals and moderates in the US Senate, maybe Thaddeus McCotter could unseat Senator Carl Levin in Michigan!

LOL, King is so partisan he once put a bunch of effort into successfully defeating a bill.... to rename a post office.

Why the hell would Steve King draw Harkin into retirement??

He's saying that Steve King is delusional enough to think he could, and he certainly is that lost in the head.
