So I wanted to do a more light-hearted thread than the serious and partisan discussions we usually have. I wanted to know who you think are the most and least attractive/handsome politician in your country (so that non-Americans can join in). The rules are that you have to have at least one of each category, male and female, attractive and un-attractive. Those who are entering Congress or a governorship after this year are valid. So, here we go:

Most Attractive:

Tulsi Gabbard               Martin Heinrich

Least Attractive:

Zoe Lofgren                    Ron Wyden

Yes, I know this is a kind of vain and superficial thread, but I was just curious to know what Atlas forumites considered attractive politicians, since someone mentioned in another thread that Martin Heinrich was "ridiculously handsome".

On a related note, I feel that the attractiveness of our soon-to-be Secretary of Defense is underrated:

I will admit that Hagel is how a Defense Secretary should look.

I'll do from Minnesota

Hot from the House:

Andrea Kieffer

There's a whole lot of ugly:

Sorry Duane Quam

Tom Bakk gets the award for "the Viking who will eat your babies" look.

Jeremy Miller wins the "I got my start on Dave Leip's Atlas Forum" award (incidentally, this is Keystone Phil's brother) Tongue

Julie Rosen wins the "MILF" award (she's f[inks]ing hot)

Gretchen Hoffman wins the "There's something about her" award (it's the German/English looking eyes) I think English women are underrated.

And surely, the "In case you didn't know, I'm Jewish" award goes to

She's not in office yet, but Melisa Franzen, the incoming State Senator from Edina is hot:

I'm hoping she's more progressive than her background would imply though (before running for State Senate she was a "labor relations" attorney for Target.)

Melisa Franzen may be the winner of this thread. I also nominate Elizabeth Halseth, who posed for Maxim.

And who can forget the ugly ones? I nominated Times Man of the Year, 1997.

Joe Kennedy III is the only male one from the US that I can think of whom I'd consider attractive.

Wow, even by Nevada standards, Halseth has to be one of the most worthless, vapid people to ever darken a state legislature.  They should hire Linda Fiorentino to play her in the movie version.

Least attractive:

Peter Christensen, MP and former political spokesperson for the Liberals.

Birthe Rønn Hornbech, MP and former Minister of Integration from the Liberals.

Manu Sareen, Minister of Church (convert from Hinduism) and Equality is the most attractive male member of the government.

While Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt is probably the most attractive female minister.

Minister of the Environment Ida Auken is also a handsome woman.

Jeppe Mikkelsen from the Social Liberals is the best looking male MP:

Laura Lindahl from Liberal Alliance is the best looking female MP:

Most attractive is more difficult. Manu Sareen, minister of church (convert from Hinduism) and equality is the most attractive member of the government.

His boss has been a topic of conversation around here  https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=183766.msg3974401#msg3974401

Well, for France.

You have to give some credit to Villepin :

I guess Wauquiez is not bad

Hamon as well.

But I don't know, there might be better looking ones.

If you're looking for women, I guess Rama Yade's not bad at all :

Presently in government, people tend to mention Filippetti, Duflot and Vallaud-Belkacem, but I don't really care for any of them. Rather, I'll give you one leader of my radical left political movement, Clémentine Autain.

I'm not usually into short hair for women, but she brings it to quite a level...

I'll have to make another post for the ugliest.

In Spain...:

Women (and gays) like Albert Rivera, leader of "Movimiento Ciudadano":

and Pedro Sánchez (PSOE):

and, of course, Alberto Garzón (IU):

Among ladies, I like Arantza Quiroga (PP):

and that's about all. We need some Cecilias Vallejo and Kristis Noem here. Help us!!

Among the ugliest, there you have José Manuel García Margallo (PP):

and Fernández de la Vega (PSOE):

That's really a tricky question for Germany. The new Merkel cabinet includes quite a number of choices for the "least attractive politician":

I find it pretty hard to decide between Peter Altmaier (Top row, 1st from left - CDU, Chief of Staff) and Herrmann Gröhe (middle row, 1st from left - CSU, Health). Andrea Nahles (bottom, center - SPD, Labour) is also an apt candidate.
The best looking from the above is undoubtedly Manuela Schwesig (bottom right - SPD, Family).

Her CDU predecessor, Kristina Schroder, was quite good looking, and otherwise a proof that outer appearance and political talent are completely unrelated:

Moving to the states - here is Volker Bouffier (CDU), PM in Hesse:

I also proudly (ahem..) present Sylvia Löhmann (Greens), Vice-PM in North-Rhine Westfalia

Let's close the cabinet of horror. Bavarian PM Horst Seehofer (CSU) is for understandable reasons doing quite well with women over 50 ..

..and Berlin's SPD Mayor Klaus Wowereit appeals not only to gays:

Finally, from the younger generation: Aydan Ozoguz (SPD, new Federal Commissioner for Migration and Integration)

Robert Habeck (Greens, Vice-PM of Schleswig-Holstein)

and Katja Kipping, Chairwoman of Die Linke
