LA/NC-Sen: A few good spending insights on both these races.

First, the NRSC will not have a presence in NC during the last days:

If LA goes to a runoff, it looks like both sides will be willing to put down the necessay $ :

LA-Sen: With the keg stand a few weeks ago, evidence mounts that Landrieu is the coolest Senator; she shows off her dance moves here.

NC-Sen: Tonight was the final NC debate. The only difference from the previous two was that Haugh participated in this one. With Hagan/Tillis at each other's throats, Haugh, donning a cartoon cat tie, was essentially the comic relief, IMO. As you would expect, he was close to Hagan on issues like SSM but otherwise ran as the outsider.

LA-Sen: Landrieu and Maness had a debate. It wasn't live-streamed, which was frustrating as hell. Hopefully the video gets up soon. Overall, it seemed to go as you'd expect between a moderate Democrat and a tea partier. 'Probably a good road test for Landrieu when she debates Cassidy, and Maness benefits from the exposure.

LA-05: McAllister gets some shoring-up on his right flank with the NRA's endorsement.

Just Politico wasting ink and pixels. 'No way the oil/gas industry would throw Mary under the bus.

It seems Politico is picking up the pace on their GOP hackery right before the election.

LA-05: Lawsuit by an ex-employee of the company which is McAllister's biggest investment (his name is not in the documents) had incendiary allegations about sexual harassment, drug culture and other things at the company. When NR started investigating, lawsuit was withdrawn.

Landrieu raised $2.7M in Q3 with $3.5M CoH. Cassidy raised $2.5M.

LA-Sen: Politico looks at how Cassidy is pretty much the antithesis of the colorful, quotable pols that LA has produced over the years.

NC-Sen: The McCrory Administration says that there was nothing improper with how Hagan's husband's stimulus grant was handled. Still, Tillis seems to have gotten some mileage out of this issue.

Sorry if this has been posted already but Mother Jones had a pretty hilarious article on the LA-6 congressional election:

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2014/10/edwin-edwards-garret-graves-louisiana-sixth

Which also links to this article by David Wasserman on how Lenar Whitney is "the most frightening candidate I’ve met in seven years interviewing congressional hopefuls":

^ Ugh yeah, she's a piece of work. She tried to pick a fight with me on Twitter a few weeks ago. I don't like some of the other top Republicans in that race, but at least they actually have their own ideas and don't just go around ranting about liberulz.

Gun to my head, I don't think she makes the runoff, but this race is just so volatile...

Obviously it's pretty much impossible to predict, but who do you see as the favorite? Dan Claitor?

Paul Dietzel seems like the best/least bad Republican but he seems to have run out of money, though then again he is one of 3 candidates that the local Republican party endorsed (along with Whitney and Claitor, which seems to mean the endorsement was just a big F-you to Graves)

Ugh. The suicidal instincts of the Tea Party wing of the Republican party never ceases to astonish and infuriate me.

^ I'm supporting Claitor because I think he's done a good job in the legislature. He's the most 'mavericky' and is a pretty pragmatic Republican.

Claitor was hurt the most by Edwards running, but he's still from the right part of the district. He hasn't raised as much money as I hoped though.

Edwards/Graves seems most likely, ATM. Dietzel and Claitor both need to have good ground games to make the runoff (very possible for either).
