First he comes out in favor of marijuana legalization, now this Rev. Robertson is on a roll. Cheesy

Maybe if he lives another 20 years he'll become an atheist at this rate.

He may be softening some of his stances, but he will never deny his God.  I don't often agree with him, but he is one of my fellow brothers in Christ.

Its not often that I agree with Rev. Robertson, but this is definitely one thing I do agree with him.

Well done, Pat.

He lost his right to be taken seriously forever ago, and I doubt he'll be 'enlightening' anybody here. You have to wonder why he's undermining his brand (if any of that actually remains).

He's pretty old. Maybe he just doesn't care about playing a part anymore or maybe he's just senile and forgetting that he's playing a part and what he really believes is slipping through. We'll probably never know.

He was right about the lynch mob - it's already started:

I would like to know how many of these mega pastor types would secretly admit that they consciously are aware that the vast majority of what they do and say is just an act. Anybody ever see TD Jakes? Now that is some fine theatre, obviously trying to reach African-Americans who have no role models. But Robertson was a product of his age, coming to full fruition in the 1980s with the merger of the far political right and evangelism. I'd say he is one of the founders, and he profited greatly. He's not a prophet, he's a profit.

No, the Earth is not 6,000 years old, and regardless of his motivations, I have to give props to Pat Robertson. Wow, I've not said that very often. Smiley

The young Earthers who are Bible literalists have another gem of an argument: because God created all life in six days, God created dinosaurs with humans. Which is madness - again, because of those wonderful things called fossils and rock layers - and so kudos to Robertson for telling the truth, even if he is passed his prime in the God business.

I don't think Pat Robertson was ever a young earther.  Worth pointing out that renouncing Young Earth Creationism /= renouncing Creationism.

Well, I guess even the most dangerous of ideologues deserve a bit of recognition when they do the right thing.

Props, Pat.
