it seems that Tailgunner Joe really cursed the seat for good. He died in 57 and the seat has never gone republican again, even in good years like 1994. It's one of the longest held democratic seats outside of the south.

Baldwin is 50, so she could conceivably remain in the seat for another 30 years.  I think she will be a harder target than Feingold because as the 2012 campaign demonstrated, she has absolutely no squeamishness about negative campaigning.  And her negative ads were effective.

You think this seat is cursed for Republicans? Take a look at the Class II Montana seat- in January it'll be an entire century since the seat was last held by a Republican.
