This is only because Perot drove down Clinton's vote % in 92 and 96.

And I don't know exactly what the methodology the paper used was, but it looks to me like Gore did better too, especially if you count WV, KY, and OK as the South. So, basically, the paper's point is that Obama did better in the South than Mondale or Dukakis. Ok, thanks.

By peripheral South, do you mean Missouri, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and West Virginia? All strong Obama states Tongue
