I promise tomorrow every state will have a winner (some will still need a recount, sure, or maybe recounts will be useless...). And tomorrow morning Smiley

If you want to give us some states today, that would be great!

The Murray Bunker: Statement on McCain's support of Bloomberg

"My fellow Democrats, and my fellow Americans, it is a shame what Senator McCain has done. It is a shame to fail to campaign for weeks and then just give up on the whole thing. It is a shame for Sen. McCain to betray his constituents in the Republican Party in favor of another candidate. It is a shame to, on Election Night, give up and abandon one's principles in order to win. And, most of all, it is a shame for Mayor Bloomberg to pretend to be a bipartisan, Golden Mean Fallacy fulfilling figure while promising to continue the economic policies of George W. Bush with the full support of the Republican Party's standard bearer. This proves what Governor Dean and I have been saying all along: Mayor Bloomberg is not a moderate. Mayor Bloomberg is not a centrist. Mayor Bloomberg will not fight for you. He will only fight for the right wing and the special interests."

Statement from Evan Bayh
Stop lying. Americans want a President who can reach across the aisle, and know that's not Howard Dean. They know that they can't win the bipartisanship arguement so you're attacking our campaign for doing what you can't: Unite Americans of every ideology, party, race, creed, and sexual orientation into a movement that will truly Change Washington from the failures of Bush Republicans and Dean Democrats."

The Murray Bunker: Shut Up Evan and Stop Lying Unlike Certain Vice Presidential Candidates I Could Name, I Don't Tell People To Shut Up - How's That For Reaching Across The Aisle, Sen. Bayh?

"It's Patty, not Patti - or can you not read all those Dean/Murray signs in Pennsylvanians' front lawns? And bipartisanship for its own sake isn't necessarily a good thing - the Fugitive Slave Law was part of a compromise, for example. Furthermore, I don't see any women on your ticket - good job supporting minorities. And any group you can unite, we can unite better: whether it's black people, gay people, atheists, Muslims, Christians, they're all welcome in a Dean/Murray Administration. What aren't welcome are politicians who claim that they don't support 'Bush Republicans' literally right after receiving the endorsement of the Republican Party's standard bearer."

Statement from the Bloomberg Campaign

As we have seen throughout this campaign, the Murray camp continues to make untrue statements and mislead the American people. Folks are tired of the divisiveness and name-calling, and they're tired of the constant lies that are being spread - we don't need the sort of divisive politics that has been displayed by Governor Dean and Senator Murray during this campaign. The office of the President and Vice President comes with class, and we don't see any class being exhibited when Senator Murray attacks our ticket for not including a female or minority on it. This isn't the type of partisan politics we need - America is ready for real leadership that looks past the partisan politics and bickering. This need for bi-partisanship is why Senator McCain threw his support behind our campaign, it's something that Senator Murray simply doesn't understand, going as far as to criticize bi-partisanship, and it is a message the Mayor is proud to stand on. If you're ready for bi-partisan leaders in the White House, Michael Bloomberg and Evan Bayh are your only options.

The Murray Bunker: Who's The Divisive One? Who Cares About The Issues?

"If Mayor Bloomberg and Sen. Bayh are sincere about being 'tired of the divisiveness', then maybe the latter should apologize for calling his opponent a liar and telling her to shut up - the office of Vice President comes with class, of course. Furthermore, a campaign run solely on bipartisanship for bipartisanship's sake is no campaign at all. A real campaign - like Governor Dean's and my campaign - focuses on the issues that affect real Americans, like bringing our troops home and expanding health care coverage to all Americans. A campaign run on bipartisanship for its own sake is a campaign without a spine. I understand that sometimes it is needed to reach across the aisle and compromise when one has to, but one should not compromise and find the centrist position on every issue simply because one can. True bipartisanship is listening to both sides and deciding the issue on its merits, with input from everyone. Bloomberg bipartisanship is listening to both sides and choosing the middle path so they can appeal to Republicans and Democrats. Bloomberg bipartisanship is listening to Yankee Republicans and racist Southern Democrats in the 1870s and compromising on racial equality. Scratch that - Bloomberg bipartisanship is listening to Yankee Republicans and racist Southern Democrats, saying you'll compromise on racial equality, and then voting for John C. Breckenridge! Bloomberg bipartisanship is saying you want to unite both parties and being endorsed by the Republican nominee. A Dean/Murray administration will not compromise on the values it holds dear. It will end Bush's war, it will repeal the Patriot Act (something I can assure you my opponent will not do), it will reduce the deficit, it will guarantee equal pay for equal work, and it will not listen to the folks on the other side who oppose basic human rights simply because they exist. And call me crazy, but I think a ticket with a woman or minority on it is better at handling diversity than two white men. Just my two cents."

OOC: A couple things

1. I'm ending this press war (and I hope Bayh bites his tongue as well) as the IRL chances of having a press war on election night is about 0%.
2. It's very obvious that Senator Murray has not read one post or debate response listed by the Bloomberg campaign, because she keeps stating the same lies over and over again that have no backing. At least Governor Dean (nor McCain/Pataki or Nader/Kucinish) didn't do that.
3. It's also very obvious that Senator Murray has been a complete flop as VP, and while he may not admit it, in hindsight, I doubt Dean would have picked her. It has just been gaffe after gaffe - chalk on tonight for her saying Bloomberg is anti-minority for not picking a woman and bringing in the issue of slavery multiple times - you'll never win a press war when you stoop to that level. And she likely would have lost all credibility IRL when she made the whole "Dean Sexy Chocolate" reference. They should be very fortunate Julio hasn't docked them much for her antics.
4. Looking forward to the results tomorrow night! Smiley Here's hoping!

The Murray Bunker: Reports Of Demonic Possession Are Greatly Exaggerated

"Sen. Murray would like to confirm to the press that no, demons with squids for faces did not send out those press releases, it was just Patty in an excited mood because of all the close states! We in the Bunker would like to reiterate our call to everyone everywhere who hasn't voted to do so and to do so for Dean/Murray! Sen. Murray would also like to apologize if she offended anyone with her sharp mind-fangs of wit, for - much like dipping Governor Dean in chocolate - they can get out of hand rather quickly."

JULIO: Welcome back! Polls closed an hour ao in

California
Hawaii
Idaho
North Dakota
Oregon
and Washington

I'm sure we have some states to call...

TED: Yes, Julio, Hoeven, Schweitzer, Gregoire and Huntsman win reelection. And the socialist cousins win in Colorado and New Mexico, with a green candidate coming 2nd and a Constitution party candidate splitting the vote with republican John Sánchez. Jeff Merkley wins in Oregon, beating the republican incumbent. We have some calls to make, but we'd better wait some minutes to be sure that Dean wins in Montana and Bloomberg in Nebraska. The mayor has taken the lead in New York, by the way.

LATER...

JULIO: It's almost one AM, I want to know if we can call any state for PRESIDENTIAL candidates.

TED: Many of them, actually. Big news for Mr. Bloomberg as we can project New York and Nebraska for him. Dean wins Montana in an upset...

(I'll post every uncalled state -Alaska is not a state Tongue- below, with a winner in each one of them, in less than 2 hours.)

OOC: Sorry. Just sorry.

New York (98% reporting) 31 EVs:
Michael Bloomberg 37.7%
Howard Dean 37.03
John McCain 15.76%
Ralph Nader 9.51%

Wisconsin (96% reporting) 10 EVs:
Howard Dean 33.48%
Michael Bloomberg 32.12%
John McCain 23.89%
Ralph Nader 10.51%

Michigan (99% reporting) 17 EVs:
John McCain 30.8%
Howard Dean 30.68%
Michael Bloomberg 30.65%
Ralph Nader 7.87%

Pennsylvania (100% reporting) 21 EVs:
Howard Dean 33.362%
Michael Bloomberg 33.358%
John McCain 23.76%
Ralph Nader 9.52%

Nebraska (99% reporting) 2 EVs:
Michael Bloomberg 35.95%
John McCain 35.46%
Howard Dean 21.79%
Ralph Nader 6.8%

Montana (97% reporting) 3 EVs:
Howard Dean 31.46%
Michael Bloomberg 31.18%
John McCain 29.02%
Ralph Nader 8.34%

Idaho (94% reporting) 4 EVs:
John McCain 40.81%
Michael Bloomberg 30.74%
Howard Dean 16.59%
Ralph Nader 11.86%

North Dakota (98% reporting) 3 EVs:
Michael Bloomberg 33.46%
John McCain 32.31%
Howard Dean 24.2%
Ralph Nader 10.03%

Arizona (100% reporting) 10 EVs:
Michael Bloomberg 32.63%
John McCain 32.57%
Howard Dean 27.37%
Ralph Nader 7.43%

Arizona was very, very close. McCain should request a recount, will he? If he doesn't, could Dean do it?

Washington (47% reporting) 11 EVs:
Howard Dean 41.43%
Michael Bloomberg 35.48%
John McCain 14.45%
Ralph Nader 8.64%

JULIO: Way too early to call WA, don't you think?

TED: No, mail votes are always more liberal... That's whay I called the race for Gregoire, too.

Oregon (91% reporting) 7 EVs:
Howard Dean 39.5%
Michael Bloomberg 36.13%
John McCain 13.95%
Ralph Nader 10.42%

California (97% reporting) 55 EVs:
Howard Dean 38.62%
Michael Bloomberg 37.66%
John McCain 12.8%
Ralph Nader 10.93%

SUSAN: Hahahaha, LoL Bloomberg. Or LoL McCain, I don't know. McCain endorsing Bloomberg probably backfired in the state. Imagine if some democrats who were voting for Bloomberg decided to change their votes in the last minute because they heard the republican leader was urging people to vote for Bloomberg. I can't stop laughing. And surprising results for Nader, by the way. Congratulations, mr. Nader!

JULIO: I think Dean was going to win the state anyway, but you may be right. Some democrats probably decided to vote for Dean because they were afraid Bloomberg would become a de facto republican once he took office.

TED: Yeah, that's right...

JULIO: Now tell us about Hawaii.

TED: Dean has won there, but nader takes 2nd place. Awful. The state should be an independent country again.

Hawaii (98% reporting) 4 EVs:
Howard Dean 33.25%
Ralph Nader 29.73%
Michael Bloomberg 28.14%
John McCain 8.88%

JULIO: Surprise, surprise! We don't have President yet!

TED: Best election night ever, even if the republicans takes 3rd place for the first time since 1912...

SUSAN: I have two maps...

Howard Dean/Patty Murray 254 EVs
Michael Bloomberg/Evan Bayh 226 EVs
John McCain/George Pataki 55 EVs
Ralph Nader/Dennis Kucinich 0 EVs

Dean has an EV lead, but thanks to a 61-vote lead in Pennsylvania.

And in here map, states in yellow are states were, IMHO, I think recount could change things. (OOC: remember I haven't released final numbers yet.)

Howard Dean/Patty Murray 210EVs
Michael Bloomberg/Evan Bayh 216 EVs
John McCain/George Pataki 32 EVs
Ralph Nader/Dennis Kucinich 0 EVs

Here, Bloomberg takes the lead Sad

JULIO: Everything is up for grabs. I think we knew this since Bloomberg tied Dean in polls. Talking about that, can we see national percentages?

TED: Let's wait for Alaska and Washington to count their votes... Right now Bloomberg leads Dean by 0.89%, while Nader gets way more than 8%. It seems obvious to me that both independents got the undecided vote.

JULIO: That's all for today. Polls have just closed in Alaska, where it's cler that Bloomberg will win and Senator Gravel will be back again! Tomorrow you'll have Alaska and national percentages + House. All we can tell you is that Nancy Pelosi is happy tonight.

SUSAN: If Nancy is happy, I am happy.

TED: You shut up!

Goodbye! I hope you enjoyed this! See you on the recounts!

I'm pretty sure we'll be requesting a recount in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. It's a good thing that the states we won are out of "Recount Margin". With McCain's EVs, he endorsed us, we should have 281 EVs.

LOL, I got 11% in Idaho without campaigning there and just go 10% in Oregon. 10% of Oregon is much bigger than 11% of Idaho although.

Damn it! We almost got 4 votes on Hawaii!
