Don't see this alluded to anywhere, but this is a sad, harrowing, and heartbreaking story. I thought Ireland had dragged itself out of the 15th century?!

I can't believe that the husband had no recourse. You take this to an embassy, to an attorney, to someone. If my wife were suffering and dying on a hospital bed in Ireland because of this, there would be war.

Already discussed in the Ireland thread below.

*Sigh* on the "15th Century" comment.

*Sigh* on the "15th Century" comment.

Well can you think of a rational reason as to why this was allowed to happen?

Our constitution and the cowardice of politicians and their unwillingness to stand up to people like Youth Defense.

Well I meant no insult, so accept my apology if I offended. In fact, there's a lot America just out of the 15th century!

See, in many cases Europe is put up as kind of a secular bastion by some of our own secular voices in the USA, and frankly, it now seems that I learn things like this about Europe on almost a weekly basis, and it contradicts what many secular voices here say. Of course, I think the secular voices here cherry pick as well their examples.

I think you offend the 15th Century somewhat.

I suppose than someone could argue than the latter half of the 15th century isn't medieval.
