Although Obama got decimated in coal country (barely holding onto even the super-Democratic Eliot), he actually picked up Franklin, which contains the capital city of Frankfort. Any Kentuckians have ground information on trends here?

This one is simple: It's urban and it's a state capital. (Obama overperformed in state capitals this year.)

I wonder why Obama did so well in state capitals this time. The main reason I can think of is the Republicans' attacks on state workers.
