DKE crunched UT.

UT-04 is the reddest district held by a Democrat at 67/30 Romney. WV-03 is second at 65/33.

I assume CA-31 wins the opposite. If so, that's interesting for 2 reasons.

1. It's not that heavily a Democratic districts. Democrats can do better in Republican areas than vice versa. But the crazy gerrymanders more than cancel that out, so we have a Republican House that lost the popular vote.
2. The Republican only won because of the top two system.

I think the reddest so far is UT-03, 78% Romney. I haven't seen numbers from TX-11, TX-13 or TX-19, all of which could potentially be redder still.

Yep, it was 58% Obama. The Democrats should be able to pick it up if they manage to get a decent candidate into the top-two.

Those 2 Utah districts look like the reddest in the nation? Romney seems to have hit 77% in TX-08.

Reddest in the nation held by Democrat. TX-08 didn't elected Democrat for House))

That's the Montgomery County based district. For the county the answer would be "since about 1980."

Part of it is (Semirural, very low density, lilywhite exurbia. Where huge plots are somewhat affordable). The inner part (The Woodlands) is much more dense and very very very stinky filthy rich. And then there's the old urban core of Conroe which is also suburban nowadays, of course.

Yes, thats how DeLay screwed Jim Turner. Turner's old district was heavily Republican, but locally Democrat; DeLay gave Turner Montegomery county, which was heavily Republican, but would never vote for a Democrat.

TN-04

Despite his flaws, DesJarlais won 56/44. Most notable here was Rutherford county, the most populous county in the district; though Romney won it 62/37, Stewart kept DesJarlais to a close 52/48.

Revolting. Voting for an undeniable scumbag because of party label is reprehensible regardless of partisanship.

NY-27:

Just by judging from the county-level swings, this district probably slid to 55/43-ish Romney from 54/44 McCain.

I think Hochul ran about as good campaign as a Democrat could here, especially given the hand she was dealt in redistricting.

That really was one of the most disappointing House losses this time. Hochul did pretty much all she could, but the district was just too Republican (the worst in NY, I believe).
