Which states are electing Governors this year, and do the Republicans or the Democrats currently have an edge (overall)?

North Carolina looks gone. On a good night for Democrats, that'll be the only change in parties. Worst case is that New Hampshire and Montana fall as well, and possibly even Washington. By default, it looks more Republican-leaning than not, since any Democratic gains look near impossible and at least R+1 overall is a virtual certainty.

Utah is beyond safe R; it's to the level of "being caught with a live boy or dead girl might not get the Republican to lose" territory.

Thanks guys.

You would think Governors' races would get more attention...

Do any seem like particularly promising politicians, from either party?

Walter Dalton, but he'll probably lose. I think we could well see more of Maggie Hassan and Steve Bullock if they're elected.

Pete Shumlin (D-VT)
Maggie Hassan (D-NH)
Mike Pence (R-IN)
Walter Dalton (D-NC) would make a great running mate if he won (doubt it).
Jay Nixon (D-MO) would be a great running mate.
Steve Bullock (D-MT)
Ryan Taylor (R-ND)
Jay Inslee (D-WA)
Rob McKenna (R-WA) would be a pretty good running mate too.

I definitely agree on Steve Bullock. His strong stand as AG against Citizens United gives him significant credibility on the left. If he wins, I could easily see him somewhere in federal politics in the future.
