No - they got close in 2004 because of the Sept. 11 hangover and the Democrats in that state being such embarassements.  I dont think they can get closer than they did.

In the next election I think PA, OH, FL, WI, IA, CO NV, NM are gonna be the serious battlegrounds. It's partly to do with geography. We have the Midwest, the SOuthwest and FLorida to compete for.

It all depends who the candidate is.  If the candidate is another southern conservative, probably not.  If the candidate is from a region other than the south, and is a moderate, there's a good chance.

Simple answer- NO!  Pennsylvania may be taxing for them as well.  Remember Bush made what 50 trips here and STILL lost.  Any president that devotes that much time shoudl have won the state handily.  McCain could win PA easily, but other than him, I don't see the GOP getting too comfy in the mid-Atlantic region.

Funny how you mention that, but fail to mention that Kerry made dozens of trips here and, along with Ohio, spent nearly 60% of his campaign cash here.

Bush, on the other hand, only spent about 40% on these two states.

Not to mention that 527's also hammered the state and the Democrats had a money advantage of nearly 2-1 with those groups.

He always paints the rosiest picture for Pennsylvania Dems.

Not saying your wrong, but where are you getting your numbers from?
