Let's say Obama, wanting to be spared the embarrassment of losing to Mitt Romney, drops out in the next several days. Thanks to a Supreme Court decision, his name is allowed off the ballots in all 50 states. The DNC then decides to put the Dark Knight on the ballot in place of Obama.

How would the election go down?

I'm fairly certain a wealthy crime-fighting executive/investor would be a Republican.

I wonder what appeal Batman and the Joker would have on the same ticket.

So what was the 2008 GOP? Ra's Al-Ghul/Harley Quinn? Mitt Romney best fits the Penguin.

Depends on which version of Batman we're talking about. Some if not all of the Frank Miller Batmans have serious skeletons in the closet which would certainly hurt his chances if everything came out.

Is this a Bane reference?

I vote for Catwoman and her skin tight body suit.

I don't know about Batman but I'm pretty sure Romney would mindf**k the Riddler.

Republican PAC runs the following ad

Have you ever wondered why Batman took in a teenage boy to live with him?

Game over.

But Bats would probably also be against abortion, drugs, prostitution, he'd probably be Right wing on economic policies.

I might have been a bit generous on Romney.

Republican PAC runs the following ad

Have you ever wondered why Batman took in a teenage boy to live with him?

The GOP attacking Batman for taking on an orphaned teenage boy...

That would be the biggest backfire since Dole's godless ad.

Winfield, I hope you're not planning to become campaign manager one day. You wouldn't do a very good job I'm afraid.

Uh, excuse me my friend, but an adult man who likes to wear tights, capes, and masks, takes into his home a young, confused, lonely teenage boy who he persuades to also wear tights, capes, and masks, would be a bonanza for any attack ad group.

Batman would likely be to the right of Mitt Romney, being a well established fascist and such. That said, my vote is nonetheless for well known magnate Bruce Wayne (Unknown-New Jersey(?)).

Wrong.

Okay, maybe a little. He did, however, stand against the ultimate fascist in The Dark Knight Returns though: Ronald Reagan!

That was only so he had the freedom to assert his own right to be a fascist over the people of Gotham.
