Gary Hart (D-CO)/James Traficant (D-OH)

vs

Ronald Reagan (R-CA)/George H.W. Bush (R-TX)

No term limits, no Hart affair, yadda yadda.

Hart tries to make Reagan's age an issue, and does better than Carter and Mondale, but fails to defeat Reagan, even in spite of the Iran Contra Affair.
Reagan: 435 (54%)
Hart: 103: (44%)

With Reagan being at the top of the ticket, Iran-Contra hits him a lot harder than it did Bush. Hart is charismatic and able to match Reagan in the debates. The juxtaposition between their ages allows Hart to create an aura of change. While never directly mentioning Reagan's age, Reagan has an absent minded and rambling performance in the final debate which ultimately tips the scales to Hart.

Gary Hart: 290 (50%)
Ronald Reagan: 248 (48%)
