I've made it nearly 50 days, but I'm starting to get homesick...  I am really missing Oklahoma right now.  My mother over the past few days has basically given me an open invitation to come back home after my apartment lease is up at the end of March.  I could feel different in the morning, but I'm tempted to take her up on the offer.  If for nothing more than my grandmother will be 87 in April and as of right now, her sister-in-law, who turned 87 in September has just a day or two to live.  Plus, all my friends and family are in Oklahoma and right now I'm missing a lot of growing up.  I can't leave this apartment for another 5 months, because I don't want to breach the contract, but I am starting to think about coming back home.  Any advice you could give me would be great!

Perhaps you should grow up yourself, and I mean this uninsultingly. Seriously, you are 30 years old, there is no reason you should feel obligated to remain within your parental coop. Get up and get out and get on with it.

Why do I feel like this shall result in your losing your job?

Brilliant. Cheesy

Bushie, I've been to airports, and they sell healthy foods. Salads. Sandwiches. Grilled stuff. Ogalla smoothies.

Bushie, I've been to airports, and they sell healthy foods. Salads. Sandwiches. Grilled stuff. Ogalla smoothies.

The restaurants in the wing of the SLC Airport I'm at has Wendy's, Popeye's, and a Seattle Coffee Shop.  In order to get to other restaurants, I would have to walk clear to another concourse or terminal.

Er, Bushie.  You have the time.

Time, I have.  Energy, I do not.  Right now, though, being 10:00 pm, the only thing open is McDonald's.  That, too, is a long walk for a bunch of grease.

Oh grow up. If you're not going to try, then don't bother letting us know about it.

Sitting back, playing on my tablet, watching college football.  My parents were both doing the same thing on their tablets.

Why not on the television?

To be honest I wouldn't likely go walking great distances for healthy food, either. I recall a time where I was in Phoenix and I just had a pizza from Pizza Hut because it was in the concourse. Later, when walking around the airport, I saw a sandwich place and was upset I didn't go there.

Am I the only one who walks around airports when waiting? Perhaps that's a habit you should acquire, Bushie.

Something's wrong if you take losing a job so flippantly.

If you're going to lie everytime you tell us something, lock the thread and stop posting

Who says I am lying?  I said what was in the contract, but I also acknowledged the risk involved in taking a vacation during week 2 on the job.

Day two, you mean. But where would there be a risk if you had it in a contract? Are they supposed to go whenever you come back and say "ah, we're firing you, even though we said we wouldn't!"

How do you plan on supporting yourself?

I will be working for Maisha, and while it is mostly volunteer, they will provide the basics such shelter and food.

That is someone else supporting you, not supporting yourself.

Isn't that the same thing though? He works, he gets compensation.

There are tons of comission based sales jobs out there too if that is your inclination. Medical sales, in particular, is a huge industry.

We've already tried that, you know.

Xerox provides operations services too, you know, as another business. Haven't you seen those commercials with some motorcyclist in a wind tunnel being asked to translate papers or the Michelin Man throwing tyres at the road-monster and being asked to review documents. It's what's Patrick is saying, yeah.

Rather sad, actually. Going from making things to... employing Bushie.

How Bushie, all this faith and so little church-going. How come I've been to church every week since getting here but aren't so dependent on the purported messages of God?

I find the spaghetti thing too elitist even for me. Let that sink in for a moment.

Let that simmer.

Is box spaghetti too simple for you, master chefs? Do you expect us all to crank out our own handmade rigatoni?

Starting January 1, I will be looking for a yoga class around Salt Lake City.  I'm really interested in trying yoga, and I've heard while its not a major weight-loss exercise program, per se, it creates a mindset that is more conducive to losing weight.  In fact, while we are speaking, I am looking up yoga classes that I could join for relatively cheap at the first of January.  At the very least, I will be trying to find a low cost gym membership so I can use their treadmills.
