If you seriously are having troubles in Utah for personal reasons.....you should really realize that moving to Kenya would be a complete and utter disaster.

Have you ever heard of homesickness?  I feel much better today, BTW.

Yes. I have heard of it. I went away to college and left my home and my parents and saw them every few months for a weekend at a time. It was difficult at first, but I got used to it, became independent and forged a life of my own. I became my own person. There were types both my roommate and I thought about transferring home because it was our "comfort" zone - but after the first 4 months, we became accustomed to things, made friends, got into habits and the like.

My advice is to not give up and go home. I stress you should not move to Kenya. If you think Utah is bad, just imagine what it would be like to be living in a third world country half across the world from your family. But get accustomed to Utah. Stop with these 5 month leases. You aren't at camp. You keep looking back at Utah and you aren't cutting the cord. You are 30 years old man. You have to grow up. You have to be your own man. If you move back to Oklahoma, you may as well move in with your parents and just stay there, accept your life and lose all ambition at all. It would be pathetic, but at least you'd be "fat and happy" as they say.

Spend a couple hundred bucks and have a brief consultation with a real estate attorney concerning your plans for the house. It's extremely important that you make good decisions with these huge financial decisions. I'm the furthest thing from an expert in this field, but something doesn't quite smell right.

We're not looking to make any kind of profit on this house, we just want to get out from under it.  We've talked to a realtor who graduated from my high school a year before I did.  I also talked to my mortgage company.  My parents are pretty good about smelling a rat.  My realtor is on standby just in case we have to go the market route.

She's happy it's not occurring anytime soon i.e. she's hoping it is a phase and will blow over.

How can you provide for your future by volunteering? You can't fly back to your family without making money... you can't provide for a future family without it. It's great to want to help, but without some real funds in the bank, it could be tough.

I'm not looking for it to be easy.  I'm looking for it to be doable.  Nothing in life that's worth anything comes without a price.

Well it will certainly be hard if you aren't making any real money. You won't be able to afford to travel unless you keep hitting up your parents for money!

More call centers? Is that the only jobs available these days?

I think that or restaurant work has been the only job available for decades, no?

Sad but true, opebo. Even if you have a professional degree these days.

I can definitely put away the calories when I'm drinking bourbon or PBR. Otherwise, yeah, I could never eat 4000 calories in a day, especially during exams when stress causes me to hardly eat anything.

BushKE, you still use physical calendars in a world where they're all digital?

Have you been eating heavy food? Two days ago I ate some habanero chicken wings and I'll be damned if my stomach didn't churn and churn until the next morning!

Have you tried drinking ginger ale? It helps with an upset stomach.

Sprite is not Ginger Ale.  It has no ginger in it.  Ginger helps stomach ailments.

Ginger ale doesn't have ginger in it, either.

This stuff does. South Carolina's finest!

<------ hopes that BushKE will find a lady over Christmas. Or his car makes a return. The season in Utah is about as eventful as when the Jersey Shore cast went to Italy.

Hold on. Your flight is at 6am and you're leaving for the airport at 9pm the night before? What'll you do there if there's no free wifi?

I'd rip through some breakfast if I was sitting in an airport all night. I'd probably stuff my face continuously until I boarded. Or I'd just get hammered.

Me either Bushie. A girl friend of mine made me a bunch of cookies yesterday, my mom is making baklava tomorrow and, well, I can't hold back this time of year. I'll come to hate myself for it come January.

Well I agree but I'm not a good influence. I'm also not overweight so it's not a huge concern to splurge a bit during Christmas. Tongue
