There's a place called great wraps at the airport. Please eat there.

If its open I'll consider it.  Considering I'll be there in the overnight hours from 10:00  pm to 5:30 am, not much will be open.  By the time things open at 4:30-5:00 for breakfast, I will be focused on getting ready to board.

I'd rip through some breakfast if I was sitting in an airport all night. I'd probably stuff my face continuously until I boarded. Or I'd just get hammered.

Good thing is I will only be 3 hours 41 minutes in route.  I take off at 6:00 am MST (7:00 am CST) and will land in Oklahoma City at 10:41 am CST, so I can get lunch in Oklahoma City.

Oh man. What's the first place you want to eat when you first get home?

To be honest, I want a nice, juicy, Braums Hamburger (Braum's is the leading local hamburger and ice cream restaurant.)  It is headquartered on a farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma and is never frozen and delivered by truck.  Thus, its only in Oklahoma, Southern Kansas and Northern Texas.  I am on vacation and it is Christmas, so I'm not even thinking about a diet, and don't ANYONE criticize me for that.

We won't because you don't think about it at any other time, why change now?

Me either Bushie. A girl friend of mine made me a bunch of cookies yesterday, my mom is making baklava tomorrow and, well, I can't hold back this time of year. I'll come to hate myself for it come January.

Exactly, Christmas is not a time for a diet.  That is being unfair to yourself.  I will be enjoying myself the next 10 days and will get started on my diet again on January 1.  In my opinion, diets should be illegal the last two weeks of December.  Enjoying yourself over Christmas is more important than taking care of your diet during that time of year.

This is going to sound excruciatingly lame and self-help but if you want to lose weight it's not so much changing habits as changing who you are. Don't become someone who passes up junk food for a salad, become someone who doesn't even consider the junk food as an option.

I am on vacation and it is Christmas, so I'm not even thinking about a diet.

I cannot and will not be bound to a diet on CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is not a time to torture yourself on a diet.  Its a time to ENJOY yourself and EAT WHAT YOU WANT!!!  More people agree with me than with your post.

Well I agree but I'm not a good influence. I'm also not overweight so it's not a huge concern to splurge a bit during Christmas. Tongue

Whether more people agree with me or you is entirely irrelevant. My point (really, Oakvale's point) is that if you're thinking of a diet as "torture" then you've already lost.

Plus he's not serious the other 51 weeks either.

"Torture" may have been too strong of a word.  But, you can't be watching what you eat on Christmas, unless you have a medical condition that requires you to eat certain foods.  Obesity doesn't count, because while the possibility exists, I highly doubt I will drop dead after overdoing it on Turkey, Ham, Mashed Potatoes, all the trimmings.

Plus, I have mentioned this before, but have been brutally attacked for it, but I need to be more concerned about the health of my spiritual life than the health of my physical life.  A shocking statistic that people may not (or choose not) to be aware of: Even those who watch what they eat with minute precision still die.  Dieting and wholesale lifestyle changes may only delay the inevitable.  This is part of the reason I am not extremely concerned about it.  This body is going to die at some point no matter what I do to it.  When it dies, I'm headed home!  My former music minister said this "I would rather die young and happy than to die old and miserable."

I ease off at Christmas, but I don't use it as an excuse to gorge myself. You keep treating it as a diet, as opposed to changing your diet.

This is why you'll never get it through your head... it's not supposed to be temporary and based on convenience.

So, I am officially a doofus.  I get to the Airport only to find out that I cannot go through security until 4:00 am.   The policy is different between airlines.  Southwest let me go through security in November the prior evening.  US Airways doesn't allow previous day check-ins.  So, I am on the front side of security until 0400.

Bushie, you just brought back a great memory.

Growing up in southern Kansas, going to Braums was a very special treat. We would usually go there after Sunday evening church - my favorite ice cream there was the caramel cookie dough. I usually went to the one in Parsons - I wonder if it still open? I'll have to check.

I'll actually be in Southern Kansas during the Holidays, so that might be a stop I make as well.

I remember Sunday evening trips to Braums!  I was never very adventurous (still not) so I would geta large vanilla malt.

Oh, Bushie, there was something I have been meaning to ask you...

What is your opinion of fry sauce? I don't know about you, but as a fellow Midwesterner, I hadn't heard of it until I went out there last summer, and everyone out there just raves about it! Personally, I don't care for it too much.

A lot of fast food places offer it, most notably In-And-Out (If you haven't been there, I'd recommend it. Dunno if they have it down in Oklahoma).

Is Denny's as good as Waffle House or ihop? I went to ihops for the first time last week and I'll be damned if their hash browns aren't just wonderful with hot sauce.
