If Matt Damon gained another 85lbs or so.. the stache is almost creepy enough for the role.

I just reserved my off airport parking for my trip to Oklahoma City next weekend (Dec 21-25).  My flight leaves at 6:00 am MST Saturday, December 21, 2012, but I am going to directly after work Friday evening not for weather concerns, but for the fun of it.  I enjoyed the 15 hour airport marathon in November, so I'm sure I will enjoy this marathon, which will put me at the airport by 5:30 pm Friday and boarding at 5:30 am Saturday, so a grand total of 12 hours in this marathon, not including the time in transit to the airport and not including the time spent on the plane prior to departure.

Christmas Day will be an interesting day for me.  I leave the Oklahoma City Airport at 11:15 am CST, arrive in Denver at roughly 12:45 pm.  Take off from Denver at 2:45, arrive in Phoenix at 4:35 pm, then finally leave for Salt Lake City at 5:45 and arrive in SLC at 7:32 pm!  So, I will have 2 layovers in Denver and Phoenix just trying to get from OKC to SLC.

Why do you reserve airport parking? Can't you just drive into the garage and park? And do you know nobody well enough to get a ride to the airport? No buses running that way? Have you done the math on getting a cab? Parking at airport is expensive :-(

No, I've held steady, actually.  I'm at 268 as of this morning, which us only up 1-2 pounds.  I'm still persevering, though.

So what made you gain 8 pounds in a couple weeks?

No, I was at 264-266 a couple weeks ago, so I've only risen 2-4 pounds, I can't remember what I was.

But you lost 6.  266 - 6 = 260 + 8 = 268.  You gained a net of 2, but you gained 8 from the point that you had lost 6.

I started at 270 or 272.

EDIT:  I started at 270:

Jeff, did you really lose 6 pounds?  Because the last time the forum convinced you to diet, you magically started losing weight really easily, but then we found out that you lied about the weight loss.

Yes, I have lost 6 pounds.  This is no lie.

That's what you told us before...

I've gone from 270-264.  I know what I saw on the scale this morning, and it really doesn't matter if anyone here believes me or not.

I'll probably resurface just a bit by morning, probably back to 4 or 5 pounds because I fell off the wagon today, but I will be hopping back on it tomorrow.

You used to be 265... when did you go up to 270?  (It's sad that I know this).

I ballooned just a bit before I started.

I guess it was probably October or November when I got up to 270.

I reserve airport parking so my car can be under security surveillance while I'm gone.  I could just go to the garage and park, that would still have the security, but is more expensive than reserving an off airport parking.  It is $8.25 per day at the off airport parking and around $9-$10 at the airport itself.  Plus, the off airport has a shuttle service from my car door to the front door of the airport and back.

I don't know anybody well enough to take me to the airport and pick me up, especially since they would have to pick me up on Christmas Night.  Public Transportation doesn't run that early on a Saturday nor does it run that late on Christmas Day.  I've checked on the taxi service and it is $85 one way.  I'm only paying half that to stay at the airport parking.

I just park mine in the regular lot, since I don't like wasting money.

Do you honestly expect Bushie to leave something as mundane as a parked car up to chance?

In Bushie's defence, this is what I've always done when I go to an airport.

So 2 is 1?  Ok.  Security it is, then.

I can't speak for Oklahoma, but around here, lots of people have nice cars. To a rather absurd extent. Not the flashy sports car, but the Lexus/Jaguar type comfy car. People spend an hour or two every day in their vehicle and it's the primary status symbol that other people see. Lots of people overextend themselves. Contrast that to a big city where parking is a pain, and one may not drive much anyway. Or was your point merely that people in Oklahoma are poor? Because that is hilarious...

My car is a 2006 Nissan Sentra, so a little better than picture 2.

Patrick,

Well, there is always tomorrow until there isnt.  A problem is that you tend to pack on even more as you age and your metabolism slows.   There are millions of Americans in worse shape than Bushie but with his related health issues he should take this more serious.

I haven't quit, but I let myself get discouraged after a couple bad days.  I'm going to   let myself eat what I want this weekend and then go on a brief one-week diet next week before I take a break for Christmas and New Years.  I want to be able to enjoy myself the rest of the year and not be tied down to a diet, so I will start my long term diet on January 1.  I want to carry that diet through at least my 31st birthday.

Oh boy...

That's one reason you shouldn't weigh yourself every day. And it should also show that you weren't really losing a pound a day to begin with. You don't just wave your magic wand and get skinny.

Also consider that the more you "enjoy yourself" for the reat of the year, the more you'll have to lose whenever you get around to it.

I'm not sure Bushie understands how diets work. It's not something you do for a period of time and then stop and go back to your old habits. You change your diet, and your diet stays changed for the rest of your life.

It's especially problematic if more weight is gained during these "breaks" then is lossed during the diets.

Or gained during the diets than is gained during the break. Which is what has actually happened.
