In this case, it was true.

Anyway, its just about to start snowing.  The snow is spreading down slope of the Wasatch and should be approaching the I-15 corridor and then points west.

The snow has started to fall in the Midvale/Sandy area.  It took a while for it to make its way down the mountain and cross I-15, but now we have light snow falling.  Temperatures are still at 35 in Midvale, 38 in Salt Lake City, but we are supposed to drop to the low 20s across the Valley by morning.

The snow is now falling moderately heavy and the temperature has dropped to 31.  We started at 40 at 9:00 this morning (5 hours ago).  The rooftops and the grass are turning white.  It is so beautiful.  At this rate, it won't take long for an inch or two to fall.

The temperature has dropped to 28 with a WCI of 16 and a light NE breeze of 17 mph.  We've got an easy inch on the ground now with moderate and heavy snow.  We'll probably get another inch before the lake effect machine cranks up later this evening.

A light snow shower is currently falling right now.  SLC Airport has had around 2.5 inches this afternoon.  Midvale has had about 1.5 inches.  The lake effect band is starting to set up bringing another 3-5" mainly to the central and western Salt Lake Valley and the eastern Tooele Valley.  We will be  just on the edge of it, so we might get 2" of lake effect.  Temperatures are down to 25 in Midvale with a WCI in the middle teens.

The snow on Monday is expected to drop about an inch, and now Weather Underground is saying the system Thursday night into Friday is supposed to drop 2-3", which is higher than what was previously forecast.  Its too early to talk about next Sunday's snow accumulations.

Latest totals are 2" in West Jordan (1/4 mile due west of my apartment) with light snow continuing to fall..  I can expect another inch to inch and a half by noon tomorrow.  We'll have tomorrow afternoon dry before more snow comes in on Monday that could deliver another 1-2".  We'll warm up back into the low 40's Tuesday and Wednesday before we get another storm in here Thursday night and Friday that could bring another 1-3".  We'll take Saturday off before yet another storm comes in next Sunday.  These totals are all according to our local meteorologists.

Hey Roker.  Go out and get some exercise.

If you think this is bad, check out his facebook feed. It goes a little something like this:

"Thirty minutes ago we had two snowflakes on the ground, now we have an easy three!"

Yeah, I know, I'm still a kid when it comes to snow.  I get excited about snow.  I don't go out and play in the snow, although I do want to learn how to ski, but I do get giddy when it comes to snow.  That's one of the reasons I jumped at the chance to move to Salt Lake City.  We get a measley 8-10" a year in Oklahoma and quite a bit of ice.  In Salt Lake, our average is 61" of snow a year and there's relatively little ice.  I'm not as fond of sleet or freezing rain, but I am a kid at heart when it comes to snow.

According to our local Fox affiliate on their 9:00 news, the roads are getting extremely slick and there have been numerous car wrecks in Weber, Davis, and Salt Lake Counties.  With snow forecast to continue to fall overnight, I will be staying home from church.  I live 16 miles from church, and temps are supposed to be around 20 degrees and the snow will just be ending by 9:00 am when I would leave.  I want to make sure I'm fully intact to go to work on Monday, so I will be staying home from church tomorrow.

It is snow storms like these that make me thankful I live only 1.25 miles from work. It will make it so much easier to get to work Monday that I only have to drive what is usually a 3-4 minute drive on normal conditions. I have 13 days of work remaining in 2012 and I want to make all 13 count and I am not about to let a little snow storm get in my way. I like this job too much!

Simfan, if the roads are still slick Monday morning, I'll be walking to work.

Made any preparation for Christmas yet?

I'm headed home to Oklahoma City on December 22 and headed back to Salt Lake City on December 25.  Because of that, we will have our family Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve.  We won't have a gift unwrapping ceremony this year as we've already given each other our Christmas gifts.  We might have a very tiny ceremony, but nothing like years past.  Plus, I'm not taking a suitcase with me as US Airways charges bag fees.

Looks like unless any more snow falls this morning, we'll end up at about 5-5 1/2" of snow.  It seems that our local meteorologists generally underestimate the snow accumulation forecast.  They said 5-6" with the storm in November and SLC Airport got 15" and Sandy got 22.7".  They said 3" including lake effect for this storm, we got 5-6".
