I made it through security at Will Rogers World Airport.  It is 6:20 am CST and I am 40 minutes from boarding.

I'm thinking of a way to become more active, lose a little bit of weight, and ease strain on my back, knees, hip, etc.  I'm thinking about taking up Yoga.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

There are tons of comission based sales jobs out there too if that is your inclination. Medical sales, in particular, is a huge industry.

We've already tried that, you know.
I don't think Bushie has ever had a legit sales job. Not saying that'd be his thing. It's certainly not mine. Now that I think about it, maybe he'd be good at fund raising. He's apparantly convinced people to support him in going to Africa and such. Perhaps he could be successful at soliciting donations for charity.

I don't do sales.  My family is not sales inclined.  We would have a hard time selling a five dollar bill for a nickel.  I tried selling term life insurance through Primerica about 7 years ago, but never got anywhere with it.  I sold two policies on my own, but one of them backed out leaving me to pay the company back.  I left Primerica officially in October 2006 after I had gone back to school to finish my degree.  I worked that along side other jobs.  I stay away from commission only pay structure as if there is no guaranteed base, I would starve.

The criteria that memphis set forth was legitimate sales jobs.  So, that's why I didn't even bring up Ameriscam.

Dang it, Jeff. You should sell propane and propane accessories like me.

Having some experience in the Energy industry, its something worth thinking about.

You're just a general IT guy for the Forest Service?  Or you help them with Xerox products.  What do you do on an average day?  I highly doubt that whatever it is, it's really important enough to warrant keeping the branch open on Christmas.

After training, I will be taking calls answering technical-related questions.  The questions will be such as, my computer won't start or I have no internet connection or I need to install a printer, etc.  Its the same thing I was doing at Dell.  The Forest Service is still using outdated equipment, so I will be troubleshooting Windows XP.  I should be on the phones by next Monday, November 26.

They keep the centers open on holidays just in case someone calls with a question.  Normally, the calls are  pretty few and far between and they usually let people go early and from what I've heard, the holiday staffing is on a volunteer basis, unless not enough people are signed up.  Xerox has a contract with the US Forest Service and if they don't keep the center open at all times, they can get fined or possibly lose the contract.  Xerox would prefer to close the center on major holidays, as they have families they want to spend time with as well, but business is business.

Why are you doing IT help on products that Xerox doesn't manufacture?

Um, I don't get to choose what products Xerox asks me to work on.  I choose to either be employed, or if I don't like it, I can leave.

But that all doesn't make sense. That's like calling a Ford dealership mechanic to help troubleshoot a blender.

I'm not in the upper-tier of management who calls the shots, so I can't say why they chose this path.

Xerox provides operations services too, you know, as another business. Haven't you seen those commercials with some motorcyclist in a wind tunnel being asked to translate papers or the Michelin Man throwing tyres at the road-monster and being asked to review documents. It's what's Patrick is saying, yeah.

Rather sad, actually. Going from making things to... employing Bushie.

Not once, but twice!

Didn't you have a problem with Xerox before you moved?

The problem I had was the pay was extremely poor and much less than what they told me.  However, I just got paid yesterday via direct deposit for the first week of work and they did pay what they told me they would.  I'm not worried about the past, as long as I'm getting paid now what they promised me, I'm fine.

One of the good things about my job right now is apparently, the first 7 days of each month are the busiest and thus require some overtime.  Hopefully, I can get a little overtime in early December.

Oh, and if I am given a choice whether to work Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, I would choose to work as it will be easy money that day.

I am really looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow.  This should be a short week because of Thanksgiving, but in a way, I hope I am able to work on Thursday and Friday.  I could definitely use the money and since I have already had Thanksgiving Dinner with my family, I would have no qualms with working on Thursday.  I did get my first paycheck direct deposited last Friday for the 3 1/2 days I worked before I left for Oklahoma.  I was surprised the direct deposit took hold that fast.  Usually, I have to wait a pay period or two before direct deposit takes hold.  What's more is the paycheck was more than I was expecting, $50 higher.

You should volunteer to work Thursday.  It'll keep you from having dinner at Golden Corral, which is probably one of the worst things you could do for Thanksgiving.

I don't know if I will still be in training by then.  If I am, there is a good chance I won't be able to work.  If I'm in full production mode, I would definitely volunteer both Thursday and Friday.  Eating at Golden Corral would be better than ordering a pizza or getting a hamburger.  At least I could get vegetables at GC.  No sane person counts the lettuce on a hamburger as a vegetable serving, not even me.

Whole Foods near Salt Lake city

Or, just in general:

Grocery stores near Salt Lake City

I'm wanting turkey on Thanksgiving, and I don't know how to nor want to prepare a turkey just for myself, so I'll go to Golden Corral.  Thanksgiving Day is not a day to eat ordinary, everyday food.

What part(s) of the turkey do you eat?

Generally the white meat. (I don't know the body part).

It was a great day at work!  I found out some holiday information.  I will be off this Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving and Black Friday.  I will also have December 22-26 off, so guess what... I am coming home for Christmas!!!! I've already booked the flights with cancellation insurance.  I will be leaving Salt Lake City at 6:00 am on Saturday, December 22, 2012 and arriving in Oklahoma City at 10:41 am with a short layover in Denver.  I will be leaving to come back home on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at 11:15 am and arriving in Salt Lake City at 7:32 pm with 2 layovers in Denver and Phoenix.  I will only be home for 2 days, and it will be my final trip home until the late Spring or Summer, but I will be home for the holidays!!

And will you be taking me up on my Thanksgiving dinner offer?

I do appreciate the offer, but I will decline.

Bushie, have you joined a church in Utah? People are usually willing to extend an invitation on Thanksgiving if you make it known that you have nowhere to go. Cause the thought of you eating Thanksgiving dinner at Golden Corral by yourself is so damn depressing. No offense.

Yes, I have joined the First Southern Baptist Church of Salt Lake City.  I didnt ask anybody as I hate inviting myself.  I've already had my Thanksgiving Dinner for 2012.  It is depressing, but I'll be going home for Christmas so the Holidays won't be a total loss.

I haven't been there long enough for people to get to know me.  I first went there in middle September, but then missed the next 3 Sundays due to moving from the hotel to the apartment and my mother coming in.  I went the 2nd and 3rd Sunday's in October, then missed the next three weeks due to not feeling well, oversleeping, and vacation.  Out of the past two months, I have only been there a total of 4 Sundays.

It shouldn't matter how long you've been there.  At least a pastor would invite you if you told him you had just moved and were alone.

Its alright.  I didn't bring up the subject.  True, somebody in the church should have invited me, but I don't hold any grudges.  In Salt Lake City, finding a Southern Baptist church is a really long and tedious process mostly since the state is 70% Mormon.  Salt Lake County, I believe is 60-65% LDS.  Its not like I can just hop on over to another church that matches my beliefs the closest.  If this were Oklahoma, then I could very easily, but Utah is a lot different than Oklahoma.  I've only found one Southern Baptist church in the entire Salt Lake City Metro.  There are probably more, but the places I've been I have not seen them.  The closest denomination to my beliefs other than Southern Baptist are Nazarene, but I haven't seen any Nazarene churches anywhere in Ogden or Salt Lake.  So, its either stick with this church and forgive this "trespass" or I stay home and do nothing.  Staying home on Sunday morning is not an option in my book unless I am sick, out of town, or have company who don't go to church.

Like I said, there are a few more churches than just one, but not many.  My options are pretty limited.

I did go to Walmart last night and got $50 worth of groceries.  I'll still be going to Golden Corral tomorrow night, but I'll be able to eat at home this weekend and most of next week.  I got enough to fix for dinner each night for a week and enough for lunches all next week.  Thankfully, the Hostess items have been removed from the shelves, otherwise I would have been very tempted to get the small powdered donuts for breakfast this weekend.  I will admit that I didn't get the healthiest food at Walmart, but I can at least save money.

When else would one eat donuts?

But there are other options.  And you haven't tried them!

True, but I'm not going to switch churches because of one perceived indiscretion.  Would I have liked to be invited?  Sure, who wouldn't, but i'm not going to give up on them just because of that.

But it's not just about that.  Has anyone there spoken to you?  Gotten to know you?  At all?

Just about everybody has spoken to me and gotten to know me.  I have been invited to Wednesday Night Bible Studies, as well as Men's Prayer Breakfast on the 3rd Sunday of each month before Sunday School.

I haven't been to either of those activities, yet, but I have also been invited to help decorate the sanctuary for Christmas on Saturday, December 1 and attend a Christmas Banquet on Thursday evening, December 6.  I do plan to go to both events.
