If Pupatello runs, she might jump in here... so the NDP down there better get its act together. Before the reason was probably "its the finance minister, we have little chance at winning"... i wonder if resources were shifted to Essex to get Taras elected?

Well there is Ron Jones, city councillor... but i think he's in ward 2 which is Windsor West

I was talking about Windsor West. No reason to lose an open seat like that when we hold it federally. Yet, the candidate there was a joke.

Another minister down and out, Bentley not running for the leadership or re-election.

About Windsor West.. true, it was a terrible loss that could have been avoided had they nominated a better candidate. But Puppy is in a spot now... is the current MPP just a seat holder for her? or will she jump to Windsor-Tecumseh. either way they will have a had time keeping those... and many more seats next time out

Would a provincial election in the next year use the current riding boundaries?

100% certain that it would. The new federal map won't pass parliament until next year and then the Ontario legislature has to actually pass a bill to adopt the new federal boundaries...so it is an impossibility that that the new boundaries could be used in any early Ontario election.

Maybe we'll get lucky at they'll actually do a proper redistribution. Probably not though. Ontario should probably have at least 150 ridings.

Well i don't much like the matched federal/provincial ridings... but I'd rather see an MMP system in place anyway Tongue

agreed, Ontario should have more MPPs but how popular is that?

Oh, looks like Wynne might be the first to enter the leadership race http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2012/11/01/toronto-wynne-liberal-leadership.html

she would the the i'm-not-quit-andrea-but-screw-gov't-we-just-don't-want-the-ndp-to-beat-us-candidate Tongue

Glen Murray announced on Twitter his resignation as minister, may be a prelude to a leadership run.

glen murray is worse then Wynne... he's harsh and has a way of making himself very unlikeable. Looks like if Pupatello, Sousa or Matthews don't enter this is going to be a Toronto centric run and the OLP have basically forsaken any ridings outside the GTA.

Matthews has Ornge all over her face, not the best choice if your looking to "start a new"

Sousa? low-key, 'ssauga minister. Might be the best choice since he's never been in a scandal from what i can tell since i've never heard of him. The OLP need a rebuilder.

Thats too funny about Kennedy. I hope he doesn't run since i love Di Novo (I've worked on two of her campaigns)

Sousa is basically a Toronto candidate as well being from the most densely populated Mississauga riding that is across the street from Etobicoke.

As someone who lives in "real" Toronto... Sousa isn't a TO candidate; call him a GTA candidate but Mississauga is not TO... Etobicoke is barely TO.
Do i still sound bitter about amalgamation? Tongue

Hmm Puppy (Pupatello) sounds opportunistic to me, although she tough. She left for the private sector only to come back for the leadership. I dunno, but at least there is someone in the race from outside the GTA

She's probably their best bet, but I don't see them recovering from Raeitis no matter who's at the helm. Where is Pupatello positioned on the OLP spectrum?

Where is Pupatello positioned on the OLP spectrum?

Supposedly on the "Dwight Duncan right", relative to Wynne, Murray, etc...

Sousa is my MPP. Decent guy. My dad works pretty closely with him as a local union leader, so it'll sure add an interesting dynamic to our family if he becomes the premier.

Puppy wants a by-election before recalling QP, in Windsor-Tecumseh. Thats assuming she can even win the seat.

preach it Tongue

its true, its a very self-serving statement to make. Christy Clarke was Premier while not an MLA... i'm sure there are other examples of out there too.

part of me (ok all of me) would just love to see her defeated in that by-election Smiley
