Whereas summer is coming, and means quite less work in my line of RL business,

Whereas the only co-worker I had in my office stops working here from tonight on,

Whereas I am consequently going to have a bit of RL time to dedicate to Labor work,

And finally, Whereas with Griffin's and Seatown's retirements, we ought to keep the voice of the South in our Politburo,

I hereby announce my pplication for Labor Party Vice-Chair.

The formal declaration period for Politburo elections is now over.

Chair - Gass3268
Vice-Chair - TNF; Zanas46
General Secretary - Talleyrand
Attorney-at-Law - Bacon King

The aforementioned candidates will now have 72 hours to campaign within the Labor Party thread, and to explain to the caucus why any of us should trust you. Cheesy

Comrades,

I feel that I am a natural choice for the Vice Chairmanship owing in part to my co-writing of the Labor Party June '13 platform. I think that platform stands for itself as a testament to my drive to keep our party cohesive, unified, and strong.

Well, I have respect for TNF, you can check that I even first-preferenced him to be Progressive Caucus leader. But that's the point : would that not be too many jobs for him ? Think about his sleep, his rest, and if you value them, give this one to me. Wink

On a more serious note, I can't say I have been a very reliable Atlasian office-holder in the past, participation-wise. My periods of presence and activity speak for themselves, having been senior Labor IDS Legislator and Speaker for a while, developing theories and principles on game reform, ecology and employment for example. But I also have had my share of spotty activity or plain inactivity. However, it's the reason I'm running for Vice-Chair and would not dream about running for GenSec or Chair : these need constant activity that I know I cannot reliably provide, but I know I can motivate myself to do platform-work around our conventions, and even step up to replace the Chair from time to time.

Plus we really need someone from the South, cause it's a bit "double or quits" for Operation Cottonfield right now.

With both our election masterminds, Adam Griffin and Seatown, leaving the Politburo following the conclusion of this convention, someone needs to take up that party duty. I've worked with the Labor Party leadership the last few months for GOTV/election-related purposes, and bring experience in that regard to the party. For evidence of my election-winning abilities, I fell just one short of winning a regional senate election in Atlasia's most conservative region; the Mideast. Working with candidates and party rank-and-file over the next few months, we can maintain and expand on the electoral success our party has experienced over the past few months.

I ask my fellow comrades to put their faith in me and cast their ballots on my behalf for the position of General Secretary. I'll take any questions the party may have.

As Labor's official attorney I have worked closely to assist our party in election-related disputes. There are the melodramatic court cases, of course, but in addition I am also very active behind the scenes, cooperating with other party leaders to determine the best course of action during potential legal scenarios. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask Smiley

Everyone should vote for me to be party chairman because I'm the only one that wants the job, lol! In all seriousness I think I've shown my ability to lead the party. I wrote the current party by-laws and I helped to create the most recent party platform. Also I've been involved with GOTV for almost all elections during my term as Vice Chairman and I am up to date on the party's business.

Comrades,

Sorry to interrupt the vote, but we need to attend to another matter as well, that of appointing or electing members of the Labor Party to sit on the Board of the Progressive Caucus. Labor gained a seat on the board by virtue of its size, so we need to at the very least select or elect another member of our party to serve on the board. The other members (Zanas, Alfred, BK) - I'm not sure how we want to handle this. Do we need to have a ballot? Or does the party select our representation? Ideally I need to know who will be representing Labor on the board within the next 72 hours.

Thanks,
Comrade TNF, Senator-elect and Chairman of the Progressive Caucus

They've been handled via heavy-handed appointment in the past. Wink Point of correction: Zanas stepped down from PC in early May due to real-life and I appointed Velasco in his place. If anyone is interested in the position in the next ~36 hours, contact me and maybe I'll appoint ya before I ride off into the sunset.

I think we ought to renew our whole delegation there. Griffin should open a separate ballot with three slots for the remaining board seats ? I am a candidate again by the way.

I fully support putting Zanas on the Progressive Board, btw, although I think TNF would be a marginally better Vice Chairman, due to his work on the current platform.

Hey there comrades. As an aspiring Laborite politician in the Mideast, I'd like a suggestion as to what political direction to go down. Campaign for the ME regional assembly, perhaps? Another region or office?

I'd like to congratulate all our new Politburo office holders !

And MCC, yeah, running for your regional assembly is usually a good place to start with. Although the Mideast being what it is, I don't really know what are the chances of a Laborite getting in.
