I don't believe this. This is a 21 point swing in just a few weeks. I'd by McCaskill ahead by a few points, but not by this much. It's a junk poll.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2012/election_2012_senate_elections/missouri/election_2012_missouri_senate

That's their free link, since I don't think most people on here are actually paying to see the whole thing on Rasmussen.

SMH

Actually, I'm okay with this poll - if Rasmussen, who apparently is GOP-friendly, has him down by 10, that can't be a good sign.

Of course, this could be Scott's personal attempt to get Akin out of the race.

Maybe, but it's probably just a bad poll.

Wow, this game really has become all too predictable. I'll accept my accolades here. Smiley

A tremendous victory for the sanctity of RAPE!

Seriously though, I'm wondering if PPP is trolling a bit here and massaged their head-to-head numbers in order to help Akin look stronger than he is. Given the fact that they're Ds at the end of the day, it's not surprising that they'd want him to stick around. You're not going to win anything with favorables like that and the money will be cut off. And there's that sample that Tender posted for the poll. Umm, yeah. So I still think he's toast, one way or the other. This will give him a talking point to help get through the next few days though. "See, the latest poll shows that I can still win!" Very sneaky, PPP!

Now, let's see if Rasmussen comes out with a poll that has him trailing by 10 to counter this. Tongue

So now is it possible that Rasmussen Reports isn't necessarily biased for any particular side, but is just a terrible pollster in general?  I'm really not buying this.

I'm sure you can come up with a reason as to why Rasmussen would want to show Akin performing so poorly... Tongue

Junk poll or not...Uggggggggggggggggggggggggggggh.

Why does the GOP have a monopoly on nominating awful candidates who lose to otherwise doomed incumbents or hopeless challengers? Reid, Coons, Bennett, and now Donnelly and McCaskill owe their political lives to the shortsightedness of GOP primary voters.

Akin's private polling shows this race as a tie, for what it's worth.

Can SUSA or someone else poll Missouri, so we can so which (or both) pollsters is faking their numbers?

Lets just assume both are faking their numbers, split the difference and Akin is down by 4 or 5. Either way, I am still of the opinion that Akin is in fact trailing and has been since his comments sunk in. Even accurate polling that shows him ahead but way below 50% might as well have him down by 15 or 20, because those last six or seven points to get him to 50% are probably not going to materialize and thus he is done. The last piece of evidence is the internal polling from Akin that has himself tied. That should be a good indication he is probably trailing by at least some margin.

What does this Rassy poll show for the Presidential race?

I think the poll is reasonably accurate and that Akin is a dead man walking, with the numbers destined to get worse, as his money is systematically cut off. The disingenuous Dem chat trying to prop him up is cute - but futile.

I could see McCaskill being up 3 or even 4 points, but not 10. This is still a very partisan race and will be decided in low single digits.

I doubt that... Isn't SUSA non-partisan and I believe according to Nate Silver's analysis they are one of the most accurate pollsters.
