The Premiership looks to be wide open at the top this season. Between the two Manchester Clubs and Chelsea for the title and Arsenal, Spurs and possibly Everton For 4th.

My team, Sunderland AFC, have had a steady start. 1 win, 4 draws and 1 loss. Few goals scored, Few goals conceded. Heading for mid-table I reckon. We better beat Newcastle On Sunday though

It's hardly the most thrilling way to play, but it's better than the days when our defence was about as solid as wet tissue paper.

Biggest league game of the season this Saturday - my boys vs. Juventus. Both teams are undefeated/level on points. Juve's only advantage is a two goal advantage on goal difference. Obviously a win for either side will be huge. Can't wait. Smiley

Sorry Phil. A really tough loss. Spurs took an unfortunate late game beating by Chelsea, but maybe it'll convince AVB to finally stick with Hugo Lloris even in club play. A blessing in disguise?

They are just so their own worst enemy. They have shot themselves in the foot so often already in this season. Luckily, the talent is surely there and there is time for Zeman to try to increase the discipline.

Good day? A fantastic day. Sollst sehr glücklich sein, Tender! (anywhere close there?) Any win over Real is great, and it puts Dortmund it great position in the table, and Schalke 04 suddenly has a solid chance at snagging spot 2 (one more surprise and perhaps even spot 1) in theirs as well! I love Dortmund's coach, so I'm happy to see them grab the win.

I'm not really a fan of Dortmund or any other German club, but I saw the game yesterday and yeah, anyone who defeats Real Madrid is worthy of a post ... Wink

BTW, your German is quite good. Google translate or lessons ?

I'm in German 101 right now at college (and I have a ton of general language study time under my belt), so we're picking up little bits, and I'm able to infer a little more.

The Dortmund-Madrid game was so, so fantastic. And Ajax beat City too! What a great group.

The less said about that Arsenal game the better though. Angry

Gentlemen, gentlemen, please. The real action is today in Europa Legue as Napoli take on Dnipro! Tongue

In all honesty, I am really mixed on things. I don't want us to fail to get out of the group but we're playing in Ukraine in a tough match so going for a win means playing some of the first squad and I don't want them burned out before the league match (a must win).

Well, I can hardly say I'm pleased, seeing hated Lazio manage a tie while dear Spurs could only scrounge up the same, but since both tilts were on the wrong side (0-1, 1-0 respectively) going into the half, I suppose I'm pleased enough. Napoli and Udinese both surprisingly shown up, but I am happy for Young Boys. And I certainly wouldn't've guessed that Athletic Bilbao would suffer defeat at the hands of Lyon, which pretty much ends them.

Now Napoli is the subject of a match fixing investigation for a match in 2010. Cannavaro and Grava allegedy knew of the bet and refused to take part but didn't report it. This could mean a points reduction. Huge, huge embarrassment. Sad

It's been a long 10 days or so for Napoli. A points reduction is going to make catching Juve really difficult, and their European struggles aren't much help in lightening the mood. Still, it's early, if they can wipe the mental slate clean, a return trip to European action next year is a very good bet (no pun intended): a small reduction in points keeps them up in the top 5, and they're at least clearly better than any competitors for that spot (Roma, Fiorentina, Catania, Samp) and have already ripped Lazio once, eg, 3-0. Again, it's really early, but a May 5th welcoming in of Inter could prove to be the difference between CL and EL for Napoli.
