For me I think New Orleans, believe it or not. Since it's culturally distinct from the rest of US it might get it. You?

Austin or New Orleans.  Voted Austin because I'm scared New Orleans isn't able.

The only thing that would help Austin is that it's going to be the cheapest Olympics the world has ever seen, most of the venues will be on the UT or Texas State campuses.

Zero chance it'll be New Orleans. Scheduling the Olympics in New Orleans during hurricane season?  It's not going to happen.  At best New Orleans would get to host the yachting events if St, Louis or some other Mississippi River city gets to hold the Olympics again.

Austin would be an awesome place to hold the Olympics but I don't think we're anywhere near big enough. We do have an Olympic quality pool and a big football stadium you could put any number of events in, but like BaldEagle said those are all owned by the University of Texas which would be kind of strange.

A May 15 - June 2 time frame would work to solve that problem.

Holding the Summer Olympics earlier than July messes up the schedules of too many sports federations.  It won't happen.

They managed to host the Olympics in Sydney in September 15 - October 1 because of the Southern Hemispheres seasonal differences, I think that would more of a hectic schedule than a May one.

San Francisco, no doubt about it. Though I hear Tulsa, Oklahoma is putting in a bid for 2024.

The next North American city to host the Summer Olympics should be Toronto, though, in my opinion.

Adding more time is far less stressful than taking it away.

Since 1932, when the Olympics were compressed to being held in a brief two week period, the Summer Olympics opening ceremony has been held 9 times in July, 5 times in August, 2 times in September, 2 times in October, and once in November (1956 Melbourne).

Maybe the IOC would go for an October New Orleans Olympics, tho that would play havoc with our election politics, but definitely not May.

I had a dream where Rochester got the Olympics. Abby Wambach got a huge statue that was visible from space.

Also: Tulsa? Really?

Any Texas city that isn't Houston would be fine by me.

Given Atlanta, I think 'none, ever again' isn't such a bad option, were it there.

I used to think like Al, but I really enjoyed Chicago's bid. I'd like to see them bid again, and would be interested in NYC, San Francisco, and maybe Seattle or Washington/Baltimore/Philadelphia.

I'd prefer Toronto over them all, though.

Why? Houston has the venue advantage. My only issue with Houston IMO, is the public transportation.

I liked the idea being floated around for 2016 of San Diego and Tijuana teaming up. Mostly because it would be nuts and I want to go. Tongue

I think it would be also interesting to see the Opening Ceremony of New Orleans.

I'd like to see New Orleans as the location of the summer Olympics -it will mark a real comeback for a city still recovering from Hurricane Katrina.
