Hmm. Probably a Libertarian or Conservative. He could either be an Independent or a Republican. Either way  he's on the right side of the spectrum.

Race: Asian
Personal Income: $260,000/year
Educational Level: M.D.
Religion: Buddhist
Occupation: Neurosurgeon
Age: 43
Marital status: Married, 1 elementary school kid
Location: Katy, Texas

Probably Pub. Surgeons tend to be Pubs, and that trumps the Asian (what kind of Asian - Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese (more clearly Pub then), Korean?) Buddhist thing. And it's Texas. If he were a Lib, he wouldn't choose to live in Katy, Texas (Houston exurb) methinks. Nor would I of course. Smiley  Katy, Texas seems way too down market for the guy however. He must save a lot of money, particularly given that Texas has no income tax.

Nobody ever specified this surgeon was male.

Yelnoc's seems like about as close to a combination of every Democratic base vote you can get--a secular Californian union worker--except for the white male factor. Despite the higher-than-median income and nuclear family this guy would almost definitely be on the left.

Gender: Female
Race: Asian
Personal income: $88,000/annum
Education level: Master's degree
Religion: Catholic
Occupation: Geology teacher at a community college
Age: 55
Marital status: Married with five children and three grandchildren
Location: Highland Park, New Jersey

For ProgressiveRealist: Likely a Democrat of economically moderate leanings or a Republican of socially liberal leanings, if he's politically oriented at all. He strikes me as kind of under-the-radar economically for a shrink in Long Beach (although I guess it depends on what part of Long Beach), which could have something to do with the fact that he's by definition practicing without a license.

Gender: Male
Race: White
Personal income: Retired, nest egg in the millions
Educational level: Some high school
Religion: Catholic
Occupation: Former textile factory manager and bank director
Age: 77
Marital status: Married, 3 adult children, 5 grandchildren
Location: West Springfield, Massachsuetts

Clearly a Democrat, since the guy is a very talented embezzler. I mean, he could not have made the money he has been a sweatshop overseer working for the man, and sitting on a bank board, as opposed to owning the bank, so he obviously embezzled from both and got away with it. And talented embezzlers and the Democratic party go together like bacon and eggs. And there you have it!  Tongue

This is actually my uncle, and he didn't embezzle, but he was a favorite of the guy who owned the factory and I think ended up a part-owner of it himself towards the end of his career. Most of his money is actually from investments and stock options.

He is, however, an old-school New Dealer.

Strikes me as likely a libertarian-leaning Democrat or apolitical.

The Hindu fracking woman votes Republican and hates herself for it.

Female Italian-American lawyer living in New Jersey, 60, lapsed Catholic but still with a culturally traditional streak, has worked mostly in Social Security law. Never married, no children, isn't quite sure of her own sexual orientation.

Registered Democrat, Sanders supporter. Reluctantly tolerates the Democratic stance on abortion and believes that providing a more generous social safety net would reduce the number of abortions.

The friend I was describing actually voted for McMullin.

No kidding, maybe I'm wrong then in assuming that somebody in a science field would necessarily tend towards the left.

Most of the remaining conservatives in academia are in STEM, although for obvious reasons they're not exactly Generic R. It's definitely a left-leaning world but it's like 2:1 left-right rather than the >10:1 numbers you see in the humanities these days.

Seems like a pretty typical suburban Western Ukrainian aside from being Jewish (which, I know, is a big "aside from"). In most years he'd be likely Republican in Presidential races and lean Republican in Senate races, but this year he was undecided in both for a while before eventually sorting into the Clinton/Johnson camp.

Gender: Female
Age: 24
Ethnicity: Jewish
Occupation: English teacher
Education: BA in Japanese
Location: Gifu Prefecture, Japan
Hometown: Reno, Nevada (votes absentee there)

Religion: Agnostic
Marital status: Single but in a relationship

Republican leaner, but probably not crazy about Trump based on his age, education level, and public-sector job.

Gender: Female
Age: 44
Hometown: Catania, Sicily
Current Location: Rome
Race/ethnicity: Sicilian
Religion: Catholic
Sexual orientation: Bisexual
Relationship status: Single
Education: Bachelor's degree

Lucia from The Betrothed would vote for whoever the most viable non-Lega candidate was because The Betrothed is a pro-Italian unification text.

I'll do one with a similar premise.

Gender: Female
Age: 30
Sexual Orientation: Not sure herself, probably either asexual or lesbian
Hometown: Osaka, Japan
Location: Ashiya, Japan
Religion: Nonreligious
Relationship status: """Old maid"""
Education: Very traditional arts and humanities education but no university
Occupation: Lives on an inheritance

No idea what fictional work this is supposed to be referencing but left-leaning (especially on cultural issues), though maybe not heavily politically active.

It's Yukiko Makioka from The Makioka Sisters and in the actual book she is literally a fascist, although since it's set in Japan between 1936 and 1941 so is almost everybody else. Personally, I see her as a "there is no one else Sad Smiley" LDP voter if she were a real person alive today. But I love her and the book she comes from anyway.

#FBPE Lib Dem. Might have considered Starmer's Labour before it became clear that Starmer's Labour is still left-wing on material issues.

I'll do another literary one.

Gender: Female
Age: 32
Sexual orientation: Bisexual
Hometown: Boston, Massachusetts

Religion: Non-practicing mainline Protestant

Democratic voter, somewhat communitarian, Warren/Sanders in the 2020 primaries.
What book is that even though. A quick Google scan suggests Joseph Citro?

Eleanor Vance from The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.

I don't know yours, but I get the vibes of your typical PS->LREM guy. Might be RN- or FI-curious if he lived in la France périphérique, but certainly not as a Parisian.

Here's a much, much easier one.

Gender: Male
Age: 37
Sexual orientation: Does not pursue sexual relationships, but may be interested in them in the abstract
Hometown: Somewhere in England
Current location: London, England
Relationship status: Single but has a long-term platonic-ish housemate
Education: Undergraduate Oxbridge degree in chemistry
Occupation: Private detective
Other: Functioning prescription drug addict; hobbies include martial arts and violin.

I mean, she's a Democrat, obviously. She might even be genuinely enthusiastic about Tina Smith.

I'll do another literary detective.

Gender: Male
Age: 38
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Current Location: Los Angeles, CA
Hometown: Santa Rosa, CA

Probably the kind of Trump voter who isn't necessarily an ideologue but wouldn't dream of voting otherwise. "Culturally MAGA", basically.

This one is purely hypothetical, but is a type of person that really does exist:

Gender: Female
Age: 97
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Current Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Hometown: Some small town in Iowa
Race: White
Relationship Status: Widowed
Religion: Non-practicing Reformed Christian
Education: Some college, 75 years ago
Occupation: Retired
Other: WWII veteran (Women's Army Corps). Didn't see the front, but was stationed in the European Theater. Still in good mental health despite physical decrepitude; still volunteers at local charities.

Classic Kennedycrat who drifted right over the decades if she still votes at all, but likelier than average to be politically disengaged. Sounds like someone I'd get along famously with, too.

Gender: Female
Age: 64
Race: White
Ethnicity: Jewish and Italian
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Relationship Status: Married, one young-adult child
Hometown: Trenton, New Jersey
Current Location: Bordentown, New Jersey
Religion: Lapsed Catholic
Education: JD from a good-not-great law school
Occupation: Recently-retired municipal government worker
Interests: Writing, gardening, music. Sings in a chorus and has had a steady rotation of pet cats since 1997.

It's an AU version of my mom who's from New Jersey rather than Massachusetts, and yep, she is and she did/does.

Your guy "feels" Trumpist but could also be a dogged #populist Purple heart Democrat since he's still an active and committed union guy. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say the latter.

Next one is also inspired by someone I know but not as closely:

Gender: Female
Age: 19
Race: White
Ethnicity: Mixed Eastern European
Sexual Orientation: Lesbian
Relationship Status: Single
Hometown: Lexington, Massachusetts
Current Location: Amherst, Massachusetts
Religion: Devout Evangelical
Education: Current college sophomore
Occupation: Has an Etsy store
Interests: Biology (her major), religious/spiritual reading, movies, swimming

Mung Beans's guy--in addition to sounding absolutely awesome--either made the commie->neocon->Never Trump periplus or has been an unshakeable genepool pinko for a literal century. Definitely one or the other.

Here's another inspired by someone I know.

Gender: Male
Age: 71
Race: White
Ethnicity: Polish and German
Religion: Catholic
Sexual orientation: Straight
Relationship: Divorced, has been in relationships post-divorce but has never remarried for religious reasons
Hometown, current location, and lifelong home: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Education: Generic humanities or social sciences BA, then MSW
Occupation: Retired social worker
Interests: Hiking, botany, Franciscan spirituality, European and Asian history
Other notes: Vietnam veteran

Yeah, this guy was "inspired" by Sanders doing poorly with elderly Jewish voters in Florida-despite him presumably having life experiences with many of them-and so I tried to design an elderly Jewish Floridian who could conceivably be a strong Sanders supporter. Surely a decent proportion of such voters had a radical socialist or communist past much like Sanders.

(Skip).

Did you ever see that thread where someone managed to construct a plausible Hitler-Sanders voter (a 105-year-old Operation Paperclip scientist whose #1 issue is climate change)?
