Conservative leaning independent (the rare conservative on his music scene) His mother (who died of liver cancer) from a lack of insurance has made him open to the idea of Universal Health Care. At the same time it was reflecting on her alcoholism (which triggered that cancer) that caused him to get sober that led to his developing a conservative attitude towards drugs and alcohol towards drugs and he supports paternalistic measures aimed at curbing addiction.
