The only thing that gives me a bit of hesitation with regards to this person being republican-leaning at least is his education and occupation, but I think even still he'd probably be at most an anti-trump swing voter.

This one's a fictional character from a TV show.

Age: Roughly around 65
Gender: Male
Race: Non-Hispanic White
Sexual Orientation: Mostly straight, though he may or may not have some sexual interest in his former (male) boss
Religion: None, as far as we know
Relationship Status: Divorced
Children: One daughter
Occupation: Unemployed, currently lives on his daughter's couch. Was previously a high-level executive.
Education: PhD in Computer Science....supposedly
Current location: Washington, DC
Interests: Finding ways to get his daughter's and ex-wife's attention, plotting to get back into the company he used to work for, building random stuff (and/or rebuilding his old inventions)

Under 40, lives in London, unmarried and childless, and a university graduate with a job as a security guard? Definitely Labour. MP would have been Corbyn both at the time of the series and now. Not taking into account the music video in which he stands for Parliament as an independent (albeit with a self-referential ballot description).

I would answer in similar fashion to you: "Probably not especially political, but I assume a Republican when he actually manages to vote." but it's also likely he hates Trump and voted against him both times.

Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
Current residency: Anaheim, CA
Education: Studied History in college but never finished

Voted twice for Obama, first enthusiastically then reluctantly. Supported Sanders in 2016 and either abstained or voted for a third-party candidate in the general. Likely moderated somewhat by 2020 having married and had a child and, though probably not his first choice, was happy to vote for Biden (something their shared Irishness would help with).

Age: Mid-twenties
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Japanese
Hometown: Kyoto
Current location: England
Education: Studied abroad in England and has stayed there since; English Language and Literature at Oxford.
Religion: None, and sceptical of superstitions and folk beliefs.

Seems like a moderate Generic D to me, certainly at least since 2008. Maybe the occasional vote for a moderate R (2010/2014). Probably isn't strongly political herself, though she does pay attention to politics and consistently vote.

Based on a real person I met a few years ago:

Age: 23
Gender: Female
Race/Ethnicity: White (doesn't really identify with any particular "ancestry")
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual, closeted and somewhat in denial about it
Relationship Status: Single (and has never not been)
Religion: Atheist (admits to having been a bit of a 14-year-old-on-Reddit style atheist when she was younger, has chilled out since)
Occupation: full-time student studying architecture
Education: in college
Hometown: Overland Park, KS
Current Location: Kansas City, KS
Interests: Tech stuff in general, identifies as a "gamer" and is learning game development as a hobby, winter sports (skiing etc), urban exploration
Other notes: Hated school and only barely graduated high school, has a bit of a drinking problem, doesn't pay a huge amount of attention to politics despite being Very Online™ but identifies herself as an "antifeminist" (though not at all in a "trad" way).

Her politics sound like they'd roughly even out to the kind of Democrat that's popular in places like Reddit--fairly contemptuous of certain kinds of social conservatism and in a way that outweighs kvetching about SJWs. If she was more political I think she'd be more right-wing.

Age: 41
Gender: Female
Race: White, Dutch ancestry
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Relationship Status: Divorced, has been dating a man for two years and living with him for one.
Occupation: Accountant at an engineering firm in downtown Chicago
Education: BA from Hope College
Hometown: Georgetown, MI
Current Location: Chesterton, IN
Interests: Canoeing, gardening, financial planning
Other notes: Used to live in Illinois but moved to Indiana due to lower taxes. She's an avid rider and booster of the South Shore Line. Has a middle-school age daughter with her ex-husband. Her current boyfriend is a man in his late 20s who's been unemployed for a long time and who spends most of his time getting into intense arguments with conservatives over social issues on the internet, though they don't talk much about this.

Christian Indian Americans are more R and more culturally assimilationist than other Indian religious subgroups.

When I said Christian Indian Americans I meant Christian Malayalis from Kerala. FWIW the handful of non-Malayali Christian 2nd gens I've met IRL are also comparatively whitewashed if not being also more likely to date/marry white people.

Potential 2024 Senate candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is definitely Malayali even if he wasn't raised Christian.

Something I noticed after reading the article is that he is a vegetarian - I can't see a vegetarian winning the Democratic primary, much less the Republican primary.

I don't think being vegetarian is as much of a no-no as being vegan. He ain't no Cory Booker.

I would've never heard of this guy (or his books, which were published in 2021 and 2022) if it weren't for this thread. According to Wikipedia, he's a 2nd generation American, Malayali, and went to a Catholic high school in Cincinnati.

https://ecommons.luc.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=2852&context=luc_theses

I found this paper while looking for something else and I found this paper to be very interesting as it tells a lot about how it feels to be a minority group in a minority. Although the sample is fairly evangelicalish, the paper seems to be really insightful on Second Generation Indian Christians in America.

This 2013 thesis specifically focuses on Malayali Christians.

Quote
Compared to other ethnic/racial minorities such as Latino and Black Americans, Asian and South Asians perform better socio-economically. However, research done on South Asian and Asians also show that they face the glass ceiling due to their race and ethnicity, which limits their ability to move to the uppermost tier of American corporate business ladder (Wu 2002; Kibria 2002; Ch 5). These scholars point to the stereotyped image of Asian Americans as “hardworking but not leadership material,” prevalent in the corporate sector (Kibria 2002:133).

This framing reflects and reinforces how "Asian" = "East Asia + ASEAN" in US English

Seems like a pretty obvious Democrat.

Race/Ethnicity: White, Ashkenazi Jewish
Gender: Male
Age: 40
Religion: Modern Orthodox
Occupation: Doctor
Hometown: Harrison, NY
Residence: Williamsport, MD
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Family: Married, three young children
Income: $120,000
Interests: Sports (Jets fan), Bruce Springsteen music, gardening, hiking
Other notes: Moved to Maryland a few years back to be near his in-laws in suburban DC and to have more space and nature for his kids. Regrets it, feels out of place, and deeply misses religious community.

Definitely sounds like a Republican, although it is pretty conceivable that he would have voted for Trump in 2020 but not 2016.

The parts about religious observance and longtime residence in Jerusalem both imply right-wing, but the rest implies not implacably so. Probably shifting from Likud towards the State Camp over the current coalition's various attempts at judicial and paramilitary power grabs.

Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Religion: Agnostic
Occupation: Scrap dealer
Hometown: Some downscale part of the GTA, Ontario

I want to say NDP but his probable social milieu, almost "informal economy" status and contemporary voting patterns he could be Tory-curious. Most likely he hates politicians in proportion to how much they're associated with strict lockdowns and votes only sporadically.

The next character is based on someone you and I know, so someone else answer.

The hobbies and religion make me think the person in quotation is a Republican. Yet, somehow with that grand scheme of information I could forsee some traditionalist communitarian Indie.

She's actually a Democrat (by voting record if perhaps not by identification) and a very "woke" and left-leaning one at that, haha.

Your character sounds like a Republican but this is not entirely obvious, especially depending on what media company he works for. I also have a vague feeling he could be based on a real person or preexisting fictional character but couldn't tell whom.

Someone else feel free to go next.
