If you'd never heard of the character before today it makes sense that you'd get that impression from her, but in the book itself she's an unabashed elitist who unreservedly hates and is unreservedly hated by the working-class inhabitants of the town she and her sister live in the outskirts of. She also unreservedly hates men, though, so she'd probably skew left based on that in the current US alignment.

Pereira from Antonio Tabucchi's Sostiene Pereira (usually translated as Pereira Maintains or Pereira Declares). The book is actually set in 1938 and Pereira starts a random anti-heroic figure who gradually becomes more and more acutely aware of the repressiveness of the Salazar regime.
