The GOP must really be hurting:

Rove: Obama attacks are ‘gutter politics of the worst Chicago sort’
By Jordy Yager    - 07/15/12 10:47 AM ET

Republican strategist Karl Rove called President Obama’s recent attacks on GOP candidate Mitt Romney “gutter politics of the worst Chicago sort” and said the campaign is making a big mistake.

“If the president continues to make this charge — this outrageous charge — that his campaign had that Romney is guilty of felonious activity [and] committed a felony, that’s a big mistake,” said Rove on Fox News Sunday.

“Remember who’s up for grabs in this election: independent voters. They were drawn to Obama in 2008 because he was going to change politics and raise and elevate the political discourse. This is gutter politics of the worst Chicago sort.”

When in doubt, blame Chicago or public school teachers.

Karl Rove making this accusation is so funny that it's making my sides hurt. Such hypocrisy.

For once- we agree. His smears of McCain and Cleland were the nastiest attacks I've seen in political elections

On the other hand, the fact that Karl Rove is a raging hypocrite isn't exactly an earth-shaking revelation.

The fact that Rove is commenting on this means the attacks are working.

Says the man who accused John McCain of fathering an illegitimate child, a triple-amputee of being unpatriotic, and painted the Connecticut-born baseball team owner of a Massachusetts oilman as a humble-small town boy as opposed to those rich liberal elites.

I realize that Karl Rove is the Emanuel Goldstein of the political** Left, but can I interrupt the Two Minutes Hate long enough to ask for some verification that he really did eat live puppies here?  Not claims that he "slandered so-and-so with such-and-such" but actual proof?

**For the media Left, it's Andrew Breitbart; for the academic Left, it's David Horowitz.

I am surprised Karl actually said this with a straight face.

It's really touching the fact that Karl Rove cares so much about clean politics. If only he had been in a position to practice what he preaches.

It's temptingly easy to calumniate a whole metropolis and engage in guilt by association with it when one can't think of any better way to express one's disapprobation of entirely standard political campaigning against one's preferred object of hero-worship, isn't it?

Why not? He's a Rand-model egoist.

I suspect that the corrupt Chicago political machine wanted Barack Obama out of the Illinois political scene as quickly as possible. He is much too honest for them. Just imagine him as a prosecutor... he'd be a nightmare for corrupt pols.

The Chicago Machine got its way. We can consider ourselves fortunate.

It's pretty awesome how up in arms the Republicans are about the Bain attacks. They must be f[inks]ing terrified.

Yeah it's pretty funny; hasn't it been over a week since it started? They're (the Republicans are) still in panic mode over it.
