Why is this county soooooooooo right-wing?

Was this the county where that one woman got attacked by an angry mob back in '98 or so and set on fire?

Any county where John Schmitz manages to get as high as 17% is nutty.

Madison County has grown rapidly since 1960, suggesting that people move there to flee what they see as urban (perhaps California) liberalism.
