I'm too lazy to do the addition. Who is the all-time highest vote getter for President? Is it Nixon (60, 68, 72), Reagan or W. Bush?

FDR in particular has a considerable disadvantage of population here.

Considering that FDR was the only one to have 4 terms, he automatically gets an advantage.

If you count the votes he got for Vice President in 1920, FDR beats Bush by over 100,000 votes.

Counting VP runs our new leader is George H. W. Bush with 186,349,849

Nixon goes up to 182,715,359 to come in second.

Gore comes in third with 143,313,857.

Mondale shows up in fourth with 113,889,348.

FDR is next with 112,643,202.

Then we get the current Bush at 112,501,378.

Do you want the % or actually vote count... because one could be misleading?

Now in terms of most actual votes Bush got the most.

They're counting in cumulative terms, summing up the total number of votes each president got during every election they ran in as either a presidential candidate or a VP candidate.
