Not a poll cus I don't want to stick 25 names in a poll. Anyways, mine is Anders Fogh Rasmussen, from Denmark. The weath amongst the chaff. Tongue

I'm not actually a huge fan of any politicians, especially not ones who make it to key leadership positions, But Schroeder and Perrson immediately spring to mind as relatively good.

Yea, me neither. Although my choices, if I have to pick, run towards Zapatero and Verhofstadt - but that's maybe just because I've seen more of Schröder and can't fairly compare him to the others.

Verhofstad would be good if he had not coligated with the socialists. He's second on my list, but Rassmussen coligated with teh conservatives, and therefore he gets my first.

Rasmussen ties Schüssel for last on my scale. Of course Berlusconi is not even on the scale, and most of the new member states aren't weighed in yet...and the Greek Cypriots might well end up not on the scale as well.

I like Blair for some odd reason...Ahern doesn't seem like a bad guy either.

I'd have to say Zapatero, though I'm generally unimpressed with the present crop of European leaders. People like Chirac and Berlusconi belong in jail, not in office. Blair is now past his best years and really ought to think about moving on, Ahern is quite good, though I don't know too much about his politics. Also, I like the Polish dude, though I can never remember his name.

Hey, good to see you back Julien!

My favorite is still Blair. In second place I have Bertie Ahern and Rasmussen from Denmark.

Yes, Raffarin is better than Jospin, but I think the best French PM was Balladur. I wish Balladur had won that election instead of Chirac.

Didn't Bérégovoy commit suicide after a political scandal?

Yes, it's sad because he was a good guy. I think he was "eated" by the political world : he wasn't like the others and hadn't a lot of friends. He was railwayman and electrician when he was young while all the other ministers were in Universities, High Schools like the ENA, etc. He was named minister in 1982, and became prime minister in 1992, it's really short in France. He was a really good friend of Mitterand, but when Bérégovoy was implied in some embezzlements things, Mitterand did nothing to support him. He commited suicide on the 1st of May 1993. Some people think he was murdered cause he known a lot of secret things about Mitterand.
and after the legislative elections of 1993 !
RPR-UDF won nearly everythnig that year.

If a highranking politician is implicated in a major scandal, suicide is the morally right thing to do.
Sounds like a good man.
