Cantwell will probably be running 3 or 4 points ahead of Obama when they release the Senate numbers.

Not all that amazing. 2000 and 2004 featured a very tight race in the Electoral College. If current numbers hold, Obama's looking to run away with this. If you put the states in order from strongest Dem to strongest GOP, the order would still be similar.  Was not the case at all a few decades ago.

You could argue that these numbers aren't all that amazing for Obama since he only leads Santorum by 12 here. Kerry won the state by 7.2% over Bush in 2004 and Obama won by more than 17% in 2008. I don't think Washington was ever a swing state anytime recently. Some of the other states (Wisconsin, New Mexico, Virginia) are the ones that are really helping Obama's chances at this point in the electoral college
