Sub-samples seem a little off (WA doesn't have more Rs than Ds), but not close either way.

This poll has far too many Independents.

The sample is 23% DEM, 23% GOP, and 54% IND.

In 2008 it was 36% DEM, 26% GOP, and 38% IND.

In 2004 it was 36% DEM, 32% GOP, and 32% IND.

...

If we use the Obama/Romney crosstabs and apply it to the 2008 sample, it is:

55-37 Obama

If we use the Obama/Romney crosstabs and apply it to the 2004 sample, it is:

53-40 Obama

And if we use an average of 2008 and 2004 (36% DEM, 29% GOP, 35% IND) it is:

54-39 Obama
