Very contestable. How do you end up with the decimals? OAM's vote, additionally, is incomprehensible so far as its intent is concerned.

Why is Poirot's vote listed twice?

Wait, why is John Engle's vote invalid? He is Iowa's Governor.

I think you just earned yourself a singled digit result in the Iowa caucuses if you ever run for President, homely. Tongue

I'm suing.  I may not agree with my gubernatorial opponent on all the issues, but this is pure blasphemy.

Not that it will affect the outcome, wasn't NCYankee's vote cast after the poll closed?  Because of the end of Daylight time, the poll should have closed at 11pm Sunday EST, which was midnight EDT.

Do you think that would be for any reason other than that I made a mistake?

I wrote "Poirot" when I meant to write "Polnut".

Also, made a slight error in the surplus transfer - I transferred 10 votes from Snowstalker's surplus instead of 9. Doesn't change the result, though.

Not at all, Simfan. His vote was as follows:

1 Snowstalker
2 Spamage
2 Speed of Sound
3 Ernest
4 NVGonzalez
5 Simfan

It's quite clear that between you and Spamage, he prefers the latter candidate. 2 < 5.

Besides, Ernest is right. Shame on me for not taking DST into consideration. I'll have to invalidate NCYankee's vote.

On the third ballot, why is SoS eliminated and not Spamage, since they both have 18 votes at this point ? There must be a tie-breaking rule I guess, I just don't know which one. Thanks.

SoS (12) had fewer 1st preferences in the first count than Spamage (14).

Considering the entirety of Article 1 makes no mention of DST at all, using it period, more or less during the transition of all times makes little sense. That is why the Senate operates as if DST doesn't exist at all. Tongue

But that's not how it would be treated in other elections, now would it? It would be deemed spoiled.

I must say I honestly wasn't expecting Snowstalker's votes to be redistributed- just the top two, as Nix's projections had them. But still, how'd you end up with the decimals?

Snowstalker surplus must be redistributed. Each of his votes is worth 9/37 (surplus/number of votes).

Hmm. Yes, you're very much right. The fact still stands that OAM's vote should be invalided.

I voted for you....but as a former Atlasian election official, I would certainly count OAM's vote, as the preferencing is clear. It wouldn't be clear between the two people that received 2nd preferences, but that isn't an issue.

The intend is clear. He prefers Spamage over you.
That's the opinion of the the current SoFE, a former SoFE and other people.

You're free to sue over the results, obviously, but, I think it would be a lost of time.

I suppose you're right, and even if his vote was deemed spoilt, there's still NCYankee's to deal with. I'll await the official results, but I shan't contest them if they're what we're seeing in the provisional results.

I won't lie, it certainly is disappointing to lose by a fraction of a vote.

You apparently lost by 1.22 votes, so, it's more than a fraction.

My guess would be he wasn't registered for enough days prior to the election.

"You are an eligible voter in general if you were registered to vote on or before the proper date, and if you made 10 posts in any location within the Atlas Forum in the 8 weeks prior to the commencement of the regular election. In other words, if your name appears on the Census list, you can presume you are eligible. "

He registered on the 29th of October, and was on the list of the 1st of November, while the election began on the 2nd.

In light of these complications, I would like to move to suspend certification as long as these issues remain. I would also deem a recount in order. I am willing to file suit for this to happen.
