Assuming the national mood was the same, the 2008 financial meltdown still occurred, and Bush's name was still trashed, Gore would win. However, he would not win with the mandate Obama did, and voter turnout would be so much lower considering both candidates are boring old white guys who have already ran for President before. Also, despite the fact that Gore would win, it would be bad for the Democratic Party in the long run, because the Democratic coalition Obama built would never have been formed, and all the red states that Obama made purple and the purple states Obama made blue would remain in their original form.
Map would probably look like this:
Under the 2008 map, this would be 284 electoral votes for Gore and 254 for McCain. Gore would probably win the popular vote by 2-3 percentage points. The closest states would be Nevada, Ohio, and Florida, which would all be within 2 percentage points. Iowa, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Colorado would be a 3-5 point difference. North Carolina, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, and New Mexico would be a 6-8 point difference.
