It's not really possible to look past the Schwarz-Rot-Gold flag being inherently better than the Schwarz-Weiß-Rot flag.

I like the modern flag better aesthetically, not to mention it's the symbol of a liberal and progressive revolution whereas the Imperial flag is the symbol of a conservative and authoritarian regime.

One is a real flag. One is an artificial creation.

I'll admit the artificial guys had an infinitely better art director than the US or many post-1960 third world countries, but it's still on a too far lesser plane of existence to make comparisons possible.

While I'm bombarded with the Imperial flag in just about every Paradox Game I play, I prefer the black, red, gold. The Imperial flag is now too 'Arab'

Current flag is obviously more aesthetically and morally pleasing. The Imperial Flag is just ugly and looks a bit like a 1970's Yugoslav bath towel.

I'm sorry, but the Kaiserreich's flag has been associated in my mind with the colours/banner of a random gas station in Quebec. The current one is still better, though.
