Upon further thought, I have decided to run for General Secretary instead of Vice Chair. As a result, I happily endorse Marokai. Smiley

Three points:

1) Whoever is elected Vice-Chair will given the task of creating our Platform, so that could be a good campaign issue
2) We need someone to run for Secretary General
3) Chair and Vice-Chair candidates should think about who they'd appoint to their by-laws and platform committee's

I believe we currently have candidates for all three offices, although seatown initially announced as Secretary/Whip as opposed to Secretary General (which I believe is just semantics).

It is obviously up to Nathan, but I and some others believe that we must settle any leadership changes first and foremost. With virtually every other post-Dissolution major party crumbling around us, it is in the best interests of Labor to ensure that we have steady leadership going forward in the coming days and weeks.

If elected as Chair, my first order of business will be to put forward a vote on the approval of these proposed by-laws - most likely in the form of a line-item or sectional vote. Subsequently, the drafting of a party platform and any endorsements for October's races will follow suit.

Thank you.

Distinguished members of the Labor Party,

Thank you for the opportunity to address you today.

Since the days of the Great Dissolution, it has been my distinct pleasure to work with members of the Labor Party in achieving common goals and finding common ground on issues that we both care about.  While we may not agree on the specifics of these ideas 100% of the time, I have always seen that it was of utmost importance to maintain healthy ties between our parties.  Unfortunately, there have been needless bitter rivalries between our members at times, and it is the attitude which ignites those battles to be far more of a threat to the leftist cause than anything else.  If I am elected governor, I am promising to maintain a healthy relationship with members of all parties, and Labor will always have a seat at the table.  It is the Labor Party with which I intend to work closest with so that our longheld tradition of bipartisanship may be continued.

If I am fortunate to be elected Governor of the Northeast Region, one of my top priorities will be to expand our economy so that every Northeasterner may have a well-paying job.  Even with my intention to reduce spending wherever possible, I will not do anything that damages the integrity and well-being of the worker.  On top of that, our laws must be enforced, and it will be a priority of my administration to address the persistent factor that often instigates criminal behavior: poverty.  It is a sad truth that poverty leads to crime just as crime leads to poverty, and justice must be balanced with common sense in our legal system.  With that, I assure you that my new anti-crime program will seek to put the disenfranchised in a better socieconomic position on an individual basis for the safety and well-being of all.

Finally, I cannot stress enough the virtues of activity and confidence in our elected officials to lead their constituents responsibly.  I am promising you all that the Northeast will have an active governor and capable leader.  It is with that, that I humbly ask for the Labor Party's endorsement.  I ultimately believe that the Labors will feel more assured of having an ally in the Governor's Mansion if I am elected instead of my opponent -- together, we can enjoy the benefits of having a people-oriented economy and a pragmatic system of governance, with every voice at the table.

I appreciate the support I have from a few of your members already such as our Assembly's Speaker, Alfred F. Jones, as well as Assembly candidate Barnes, and I would be incredibly honored to have the party's official endorsement.  If anyone would like to learn more about my platform, you may click on my signature for a partial summary of my plan for the Northeast's future.

Thank you all again. Smiley

I would like to advocate for my election as Secretary(whip). I think I have been responsible for many of the functions of that position for the past few months. I have done the necessary work to increase labor's turnout in the last several elections, and contributed to the increased electoral clout of Labor in the IDS along with Adam Griffin. Also I have been elected as a Senator before.

I would assume you still have some days before an actual vote will be taken. You should have plenty of time to make your case. Smiley

I would like to apologize for not stating the reasons why I feel I should be chosen as General Secretary. In my day, I've managed several national campaigns birth for myself and for others, so I have the needed experience to manage a national party when it comes to voting. Also, I constantly pay attention for he business of all the regions, so I will remain as up-to-date as possible when it comes to the issues that our members must take a side on.

I pledge to remain active as long as I hold this office, and if I ever feel as if I can no longer administer my duties in the party's best interests, I will promptly resign. Thank you! Smiley

(I'm sure that all the candidates for Vice-Chair and General Secretary are suited for the task but I need to know them better before I can chose).
