Where both parties gerrymander themselves majorities in each chamber and consistently keep them for decades. Is it something unique in New York's political culture?

Politics in New York is more of a business than an ideological exercise - and very cynical. That is my impression anyway.

Nevada and Delaware did this too, I think, as did Indiana until the dam broke on the Dems in the house they controlled.
