I had a conversation with a liberal friend of mine, and we were discussing his acquaintance with Fritz Mondale. I noted that Mondales's running mate, Geraldine Ferraro, died earlier last year. My friend, the last of a dying breed of southern white liberal democrats, argued that the choice of Ferraro was a mistake, and asserted that Mondale would have needed a southern democrat to balance the ticket. He may have a point, but I will let y'all decide if he has a case.

I remember hearing itd be Hart or Bentsen... thought either would have done better, lot of people I knew were uncomfortable with Ferraro like people were with Palin,
doesn't matter.... Reagan was going to win anyway

Bensen, but Ferraro really wasnt that bad.  She helped get female and youth turnout, which was why McCain chose Palin, hoping to replicate the same success (and honestly, both were the best choices for their respective parties, because they both became crusaders for their party and (in Palin's case) prevented a landslide, no matter what you say about their policies, positions, etc.

Bentsen, but Reagan would have still won decisively.
