Hmm. Is there a list somewhere of their slate? Or perhaps a list somewhere that details the ideology of the council/candidates?

I plan on doing an analysis for my blog, and it would be interesting to know.

Well, there isn't quite an official slate, as the developers know enough to know that that wouldn't go over well.  But as this article says, there is a group of candidates that are known to have ties to the home developers and to the Manning Centre, and are essentially a slate in all but name.  Something to keep in mind here as well is that these candidates aren't the only ones that the home developers support; they're just the ones who are running in seats held by more left-leaning incumbents.  The incumbents in Ward 3 (Jim Stevenson), Ward 5 (Ray Jones), Ward 10 (Andre Chabot), Ward 12 (Shane Keating), Ward 13 (Diane Colley-Urquart), and Ward 14 (Peter Demong) are also seen as 'business-friendly,' but given the advantage that incumbent aldermen normally have, they're being given less attention and help.

In terms of ideology, there isn't a full platform that they all follow, but they are all seen as fiscal conservatives who would be more open to allowing the suburban sprawl to continue at its current pace.  Nenshi has signalled support in the past for more focus on development in the urban core, as well as for higher fees paid by the home developers when building in the suburbs (the current fees are quite a bit less than the costs that the city has to burden in order to expand service infrastructure to new communities).

As a side note, here is a list of all candidates running in the election, as well as links to their websites and twitter feeds and so on.

Well, obviously there is no 'official list'; I was just hoping the media or perhaps an opposition group would have a list.

These six are the candidates cited in the media as having connections to Cal Wenzel and the Manning Centre

Thanks!

A thread should be created in the Intl Elections forum about the Alta municipal elections at some point.

The feds will help fund the Scarborough subway extension. We'll sign a shale gas deal with Japan on Tuesday.

The Parti Vert du Québec has chosen a new leader. Alex Tyrrell is 25, he was a candidate in Jacques-Cartier (west island Montreal) in the last provincial election. Federally he has been involved with the NDP, was riding president for Lac-Saint-Louis and a Quebec organizer for Nathan Cullen's leadership campaign.

In the last election the party had a candidate in about half the ridings and got 1% share of vote.

Le Soleil says Marois is strongly considering a Dec. 9 election. Dissolution would be Nov. 6, 3 days after the municipals. However there are many caveats: they'd need to be quite confident of getting a majority (current polling, FWIW, suggests a jump-ball minority), ensuring that voters aren't fatigued after the municipals, and that Charbonneau's current line of inquiry into party financing doesn't touch them. In related news the government has refused to receive a report from its own Religious Affairs Committee on their charter.

I mostly agree with (no firings required, just some head-knocking) what Scott Reid says here, and usually like him on the panels, but the idea of Mr. Beer-and-Popcorn - or any Martinet - criticizing others' tactical missteps always makes me sn. That PMO was a clown show if I ever saw one.

Who said the following things about reasonable accommodation of Quebec Muslims? (37:15 on) "hierarchy of rights" in which gender equality takes precedence over "civil liberties" like freedom of religion,  some rights being more fundamental than others. Or there being more niqab-wearing women in Quebec than the Maghreb? "We mustn't lie down and let people walk all over us and do what they want... mustn't grovel before les autres." Right-wing shock jock or Claire L'Heureux-Dube? Interview was in May, pre-charter, but also includes the Peq talking point about France and Britain.

I'm wondering if she was a supreme court judge at the time of the RCMP sikh headgear issue (I think the court rules on that ?). Maybe she was in the minority on the court.

The RCMP recommended to the SG that he lift the ban, which he did. She was in the minority most of the time (2/3 IIRC) anyways, so more likely than not...

Del Mastro has been indicted on 4 campaign finance charges. Will Harper expel him from caucus like he did Goldring? 3 charges for his campaign manager.

DDM trial could be in March, and might only take a couple of weeks.

Parizeau will soon publish an open letter on the charter, which will probably be in opposition. Whether this is a PET-Charlottetown style nuke remains to be seen.

New Ipsos  poll out: 32 CPC, 31 LPC, 27 NDP. Canadians believe Trudeau is Harper's most formidable opponent 69/31, Tories seen as the best economic managers at 45 to the Grits' 28 and NDP's 14. Tories lead by 10 with immigrants, Mulcair leads Trudeau by 8 on who best understands middle-class families.

Interesting. I guess the Trudeau thing doesn't hold quite the same appeal for people who either grew up voting for or had parents voting for his daddy.

Checking in from the PC Alberta youth summit in Sylvan Lake.  Lots has been going on; the Premier was here for lunch, and Senator Black was guest of honour at dinner.  Something of interest to note; The Premier's Communications Director told us that the September monthly PC internals had the PC's at 38%, with the Wildrose at 29, Liberals at 19, and NDP at 11.  Take from that what you will.  Alongside that, he said ~60% of Albertans say that the province is on the right track (not that exact wording, but it was that type of question)

Does Wynne's positivity pledge extend to the Grits' Working Families all-but-PAC? Otherwise, as always, up to Horwath whether to force a transit tax election next spring.

Ivison said on QP that Del Mastro is furious at Harper for booting him from caucus given his long loyalty to the PM. Yet despite his popularity in caucus, they weren't exactly inconsolable on his departure. Also said the Goldring model - out until the judicial proceedings are over - will be followed here. Then the panel said the Ipsos poll could be DOOM for Dippers if continued.

Andre Boisclair (the former PQ leader, now representing Quebec in New York) sues Duchesneau (a CAQ MNA), Legault (the CAQ leader) and the CAQ itself for libel.

They accused him of giving a contract to someone close of organised crime back in 2003, while being a minister, while being a cocaine addict. They argue than since cocaine is illegal, he must have buy it from organised crime and so, he knew the person who got it.

They have no proof and it's rather weak and filmsy. Most people I know ridicule the CAQ for trying that. Given CAQ fundraising is terrbly low, being sued for libel won't help them (court proceedings are expensive and experts seems to think than they would lose, which would be quite costly).

We need a bit of comedic relief in provincial politics these days. Can't believe I'm saying this, but hope Boisclair wins his suit. All they had to do was keep quiet and let the contract thing fester. As it is, Sauvé himself said that the HA didn't infiltrate his company till '06...
