Newfoundland is polling like Nova Scotia now.

Granted the sample size is really small, but still.

NDP will start targeting the Grits this fall, but Mulcair said the ads won't be personal in nature. Highlighting policy differences: painting Trudeau as "Harper-lite", to quote Peter Julian. I'm certain the gloves will come off eventually, indeed they were never on in Mulcair's PLQ days.

Josée Legault has a superb column on the QCV. I don't think anyone else made this key point: since abandoning sovereignty in '95, PQ's been largely rudderless on issues. Marois herself has made her career on technocratic social democracy, as I've said before. Which doesn't exactly get people fired up. Bold Progressives and/or purs-et-durs leaving for QS/ON or sitting out entirely. Really a sort of political limbo. Legault has been saying the PQ should refocus on sovereignty for nearly a decade now, I remember Gazette columns of hers on that 7-8 years ago.

Well, by nature, the Liberals are "Harper-lite", aren't they? I'd say that's why so many of their former natural base have found it so easy to support Harper over the last 7 years.

Economically, yes. But the needle has to be threaded properly, as Dion/Iggy can attest.

Gloves are off.

All 15 Montreal municipalities would take the charter's opt-out provision. What a joke government we have in Quebec City.

The Progs are still throwing a hissy fit. How dare Smith defend her constituents against RCMP overreach. This sort of shinks is one of many reasons they should be shut out in 2016.

BQ MP Maria Mourani has been expelled from caucus for opposing the values charter, per Radio-Canada. She gave an interview to the same network yesterday saying that it hurts the sovereigntist cause by turning French-speaking allophones against them, when converting allos  has been a PQ goal for years.

Grenier on the Quebec polls. Talks about the PQ's historic advantage with Francophones, but also how the PLC/NPD are tied among Francophones, ~35% now.

Hilariously, Mourani wasn't even deviating from party policy.

The RCMP were just trying to do their job, under the difficult and stressful circumstances of an emergency situation.  While she does have an obligation to represent her constituents, Smith is coming off as as nothing more than an opportunist by trying to tie the actions of federal officers to the provincial government.

They have 4 mp's and they expell one or that? Ridiculous.

Unsurprisingly, Wynne backs off her election threat. Question is will Horwath back down from her red line on transit taxes next spring. If not then the Leg runs its full term.

Jean Dorion calls Mourani's expulsion bad news for the independence movement. Even Landry called it sad, though he supports her expulsion. Mourani will comment on this Friday. PQ's always been cannibalistic: they overthrew Levesque himself after all.

Le "Crois ou meurs" de l'actuel chef du @BlocQuebecois rappelle de mauvais souvenirs. Nous sommes avec toi, courageuse Maria Mourani!

That was Lisette Lapointe on Twitter an hour ago. Grin

Meanwhile in Ontario, Hudak has booted Hillier to the backbench. Good.

O.M.F.G. Mulroney offered Parizeau a Senate seat (as an Indie) in the mid-'80s.

Abacus is a crap pollster, and yes this is an outlier. All the reputable polls have the Liberals leading nationally.

Mourani said she's quitting the BQ, will serve out her term as an independent. Will also reflect on her support for the sovereignty movement. Talked about her long commitment to the cause, said she wasn't allowed to talk with caucus or treated with respect. No regrets about speaking out, wonders whether minorities have a role in the independence movement. As always, wearing the small crucifix necklace.
