Heh heh heh.

John "epic fail" Tory is thinking about running for mayor of Toronto again. Will he ever learn? But kudos for him, he will split the ever shrinking right wing vote in Toronto.

In any case, if the NDP loses in Nova Scotia, that'll mean a rise in the federal NDP vote there come next election.

Maybe, but the way things are going there will more likely just be a "trend" rather than an actual rise.

Dexter's government has been quite "Red Tory"-like, which I think any first term NDP government should govern like. (fix previous govt's problems).

So we have you on record now, stating that the only way to fix government problems is to govern like a Tory? [/trolling]

Not like a Tory, like a perceived Tory.  Tory government's (especially in Atlantic Canada) aren't particularly fiscally responsible. The NDP has a (wrong) reputation of being fiscally irresponsible. So, it's important that in the first term, for the NDP to prove it's fiscal credibility before moving on to more important socialist economic reforms.

Exactly. I (I'm the owner of too close to call) need to wait for the process to be completed. And hopefully Election Canada will indeed publish a transposition of the votes to the new map. If they don't, I'll have a lot more work to do.

Hey, it's Earl here from the Canadian Election Atlas. Welcome to the Forum! Smiley

Probably a silly question, but should Christie Clark end up being deeply unpopular at the time of the next federal election, will Justin Trudeau be trying to run away from the BC Liberals or can voters actively separate the two, rather different, entities?

They are very different parties. The BC Liberals get more votes from federal Tories than from the federal Liberals.

I see Margaret Wente is up to her old journalistic standards. Creating quite a bit of controversy.

Nova Scotia has earned its highest ever credit rating. Finally recognition for the sacrifices the Dexter government has endured. Hopefully this gives the NDP a boost in Nova Scotia.

Reminds me of the gun debate down south.  The NDP brings up a very good point, and the Tories are using people's emotions in a tragedy to say "now is not that time for politics". I think that is more disgusting.

If you thing than municipal races are based on ideology in Quebec...
In Montréal, yes, elsewhere, no.

They're just basically popularity contests then? What about Quebec City or some of the mid-sized cities like Sherbrooke or Three Rivers?

Good to know. May I pick your brain during the municipal elections in the Fall? I'm going to need someone to educate me on the various races for my blog. And perhaps also direct me to some maps/past results as well.

Any chance he'd resign his seat? A by-election in Fort Mac would have a record low turnout Tongue

Dewar has been fined $7000 for illegal robocalls during his leadership campaign, ditto the company in question.

Je-zus.

FYI, orders came down from party headquarters to be ready for the writ to drop by next week. Apparently we're going to have a summer campaign.

Ugh... same timing as the Quebec election last year, almost.

Hudak deserves to stay IMO, but if I were a Tory, I probably wouldn't like him that much as a leader. But, he hasn't been terrible in terms of getting results for his party. Certainly an improvement over John "epic fail" Tory.

Anyways, when is this NS election supposed to  happen? DC, you've given us false information!

Soft libertarians. They also want the Atlantic provinces to merge, hence the name.

Oh. They shouldn't merge; in fact I would split them up further: Cape Breton and Acadia should become provinces and Labrador should become a territory. Of course, I would split up other provinces too- but that's a different story.

How would you define Acadia?

Francophone New Brunswick. It wouldn't exactly be contiguous, mind you- and perhaps parts of Nova Scotia might want to join as well.

I feel dirty seeing my colour scheme for an Eric Grenier projection Wink

I wonder if he is using Elections Nova Scotia's redistributed results completely? Remember, they looked at the most recent by-elections for some reason.
