Couillard could run in Roberval of all places
. Montreal, Quebec City, now ROQ.

Yep. I was merely pointing out his lack of geographic consistency.

Toews is resigning effective tomorrow both from Cabinet and Parliament to return to the private sector. Can't say I'll miss him.

I see Margaret Wente is up to her old journalistic standards. Creating quite a bit of controversy.

My personal favourite Wente incident is when she wrote columns about how religious conservatism is going to die in Canada and religious conservatism is going to take over Canada
in the same month.

Yeah, she's been a joke for eons, even without the serial plagiarism. And as usual it isn't remotely original, managing to offend both men and women. Both male and female journos in my Twitter feed were snarking this morning about it. The only Globe people I read are Perreaux, Ibbitson and Radwanski. Don't get me started on Simpson, who's stuck in a 1992 timewarp. Their editorial last Friday was a perfect self parody of elitist Moderate Heroism.
Here's a good WFP article on Toews: never took or proferred advice, a strong regional minister but not particularly visible.
They hope Bergen, Glover or Fletcher- whoever becomes senior MB minister- has a higher local profile.

I don't read Simpson. What do you mean by "stuck in a 1992 timewarp"?

Like the past 20 years of political life never happened. Constitutional wars, Moderate Heroism, etc. I mean really, during the QC campaign last year he was talking about referenda. If you read one or 2 of his columns you've read 'em all.

MacKay: this isn't my last public appearance at MOD.
Not that any of us ever thought he'd be moved.

Nova Scotia has earned its highest ever credit rating. Finally recognition for the sacrifices the Dexter government has endured. Hopefully this gives the NDP a boost in Nova Scotia.

Globe says PCO has prepared a briefing book for the next Finance Minister.
IMO probably Clement with an outside shot at Baird. Rajotte upsets regional balance, would more likely get the House Leadership if promoted, and Harper's also an Albertan. Paradis and Bernier are non-starters.

Reminds me of the gun debate down south. The NDP brings up a very good point, and the Tories are using people's emotions in a tragedy to say "now is not that time for politics". I think that is more disgusting.

Unsurprisingly, a new study suggests that people are more interested in negative political news.
MacKay is
restoring British ranks in the RCAF
- but as Matt Gurney wrote yesterday in the NP, there needs to be concrete stuff as well like proper procurement and increased funding. Then there's the pilot program in Alberta for restoring our ROTC equivalent.

Grenier says Trudeaumania is wearing off.
Also, the Greens could pick up a 2nd seat next election.

Rideau Hall closed to interior tours tomorrow but visitors gallery, where PPG is apparently normally jammed, open. Make of that what we will.

As does Fife.
Tory convention is now rescheduled for Halloween- or Oct. 31- Nov. 2, to be precise.
The Wallin audit is
scheduled for release in a month.

HuffPo confirms what Ivison hinted 3 months ago: Poilievre will enter Cabinet.
Dunno what it will be, but an economic post would make most sense.

About time. Pollivere is more competent than half of cabinet. Look at the people who made it before him... Oda, Guergis, O'Connor?!
