Why is this a shock? Santorum did well in Iowa, got a lot of free press, and will naturally pick up a lot of not-Romney support. This should be pretty short lived -- Santorum's own personal problems will take him down, just like all the other "flavors" got taken down.

The difference is it will soon come down to a choice between romney, santorum, or paul wi5th no other fotm to choose from. Santorm could be the top choice there. He just needs a lot of $ to come in.

The thing with Santorum now, is there are absolutely no other options to turn to now, he was the absolute last anti-Romney in the race. Even if he begins to fade at the same rate as Cain or Gingrich, he could still win South Carolina, which might sustain him longer.
